So what happened to Josh Mountain's boots that they needed to be duct taped on?
I mean, understand that was to keep the soles on, but was there some mishap, or Fred Flintstone stop?

The glue just started separating. I can't tell you why. I gorilla glued them back and that worked for a while. Then while jogging in upstate NY they came off completely. I took of helmet at Eleanor Roosevelt's house and started making moon boots.

Roadrunner it wasn't socks that kept me dry it was the Gortex liner of the Boot. Worked like a champ

Of course, Twigg himself is home in OK. Someone else in ABQ would have to ride his bike. That bike has more riders than a Nevada hooker.

This thread has been a wonderful help in following the rally. The insights from experienced LD riders made it especially interesting.
When I returned to riding, after a long drought while living and working Houston, I chose a Bonneville to regain experience before moving up to a touring bike. Being a Triumph rider I've been following the Trophy forums almost exclusively - with no small concern about the sparse dealer network and parts being sourced from overseas. Honestly I hadn't even considered an FJR. The friendship and rider support shown by the regulars in this forum has opened my eyes. After learning more about these bikes I have been checking prices on a '14 or '15 ES while waiting for the rollover in model years.

One thing that might tie a final bow around this thread would be a collection of links to web sites or blogs of FJR and other riders who participated in the rally. It would be interesting to read about their preparation and their experiences during the ride.

Cherrybark, friend has a Trophy. Rode the crap out of it and loved it. He bought an FJR. The Trophy is now for sale. 'Nuff said?

Awesome coverage of the rally, looked forward to reading the posts every night along with the maps and daily reports. Props to such a great community coming together to help one another, and a huge congratulations to all the riders in the IBR.

Tony got me using the shoe goo too! I keep it in my tire repair kit; he swears by it; I haven't had to use it (yet)

Sorry to hear about the shoe JM, but it looks like it didn't slow you down any. Glad to see you and everyone back and safe - altho I guess Chris Rooney and Jerome Byrd aren't back, but are safe. Can't wait until results are posted!

"Then while jogging in upstate NY..." So an 11-day, 11,000+ mile rally isn't enough for some people--they go jogging in the middle?? Oorah Marine!

I can just see it now--rest bonuses will be replaced by 5K, 10K and marathon walking/running bonuses.

Yeah I have to be moving off the bike. Some people think I'm an ultra competitive person but really I just need to move around due to the 14-20 hours of daily sitting.

I think this is the wrong crowd for 5, 10, 20k. But I think its a cool idea. Kirsten would outrun me for sure anything over 5k. I digress.

I enjoyed reading the banter from time to time, so thank you all. Good ride and good times and great peeps.

The states really weren't too much of a factor as long as you kept it in your scan. There were enough routing option variations (with soooooo many bonus locations and the daylight restriction) as there weren't any super high point values that you couldn't do because of your state total. Also if you had all your states it was little advantage in leg3. I treated each leg like a point rally and made sure I picked up some states. Ended up doing the Texas Big Bend tour on each leg! Kept me out of the weather and similar points to other options.

We'll find out more tonight.
