So, you'll have an extra hunnert for a ho' in Reno, then? Good work, Dr. Rad!

Glad everything is better and that you made it back intact. As for the other friend...Tell him to quite saying "Pull my finger". Or he should track down some Eva Braum decendents. She apparently had immunity to Hitler's little problem.
Braum? You're thinking the lullaby dude and his name's not spelled that way, either... You want Eva Braun. Wadda hick. :p

Point.....Scab.... :D
Yeah, but it took him an edit to get it...

Though of German descent, I ain't no Nazi, but if you were to bust outside your double wide, forget about losing the Civil War for a moment, you too could learn about histr'y 'n readin' 'n writin' n 'rithmatic 'n **** like dat. There's more to life than NASCAR, Bass Masters and watchin' re-runs of Hee Haw, ya know...

Rad, speaking of one who has been through this type of thing it's a real ***** to get feeling normal? again.

I had a heart attack and cardiac arrest with all the fun? it entailed five years ago at a whopping 41 years old to boot. I didn't feel like leaving the house let alone riding (sold my bike matter of fact) for nearly two years. I never ventured far from home or any type of medical facility for fear that death was lurking around the corner. I was this way for several months afterwards ,shoot I quit working for four months.

I found having someone who could listen and assure me that I wasn't going to drop dead alone, that would do everything possible to help if I had a problem was somewhat helpful. A buddy I spent most of my free time with insisted I go with him one night and suprised me by taking a course in cpr and lifesaving techniques. That helped me just knowing somebody would be there knowing what to do.

I needed to take small steps at first, 10 to 20 mile trips away from home and gradually increasing as my comfort level did the same. It's a real difficult thing to get over as you realize you not invinceble anymore, you can be gone that quick without any real warning.

Another thing is if it's avaliable in his area is cardiac rehab or some type of support group. I found it was helpfull talking with folks who'd been down that road before.

I had another heart attack a year later with quad bypass as the end result and, though I was shaken again I didn't have near the problem as the first time. I know some of the coping techniques I learned via the rehab group and friends were invaluable.

Though it sounds cliche, the best thing anyone can do is be there and get involved

Barry

I was born in Ca. My only fault, I think.

Indeed. Like most seemingly everyone else here, I'm not a Wackafornia native.

You're still a hick, though. Neener, neener. :p

:D

Edit: Oops. Serious highjack of rad's thread. Sorry.

+1 on Scabs thoughts.. funny how the sick can sense YOUR discomfort level, be yourself He knows it sucks

He knows you and everyone else knows it sucks Talk to him like this has NOT changed your friendship

Also careful on the secret behind the back discussions with others.. those can backfire hard! Something he needs to hear ? To his face like a man he will respect you more for it..

So he's sitting at home after work, and feels like he's got major heartburn, and thinking he hasn't had anything that would cause it. Thinking he'd get up and get some pepto, he can't get up. The phone is nearby, so he calls his wife (he knows he's an *****), and she calls 911. The para's arrive, an old timer and a n00b. Tom feels fine now, and the OT says good, we're done. N00b says no, it's a call, we're here, lets hook 'im up and see whats what. They go back and forth for a minute, n00b wins out. EKG is hooked up, so she says. Tom says no, it's not. What do you mean? says n00b. Well, says Tom, that line is still flat. Woke up 3 days later in ICU!

Thank God for the N00b.

+1 Wow. Scary stuff. I remember when I was doing more "starve myself dieting" there were times where my blood pressure would drop suddenly, and I could feel myself pass out. Very scary.
