Joe and Shiny, I really do not think that you are going to need to be packing any MSR fuel bottles. According to Skip, the fuel stops will only be 150 miles apart; having owned a 2006 Kawasaki KLR 650, I know their range is at least 250 miles!
BB has 4.5 gal tank on his KTM 525. Chris has the capacity on his KTM. Only fjrrider needs to address 530 KTM fuel range!

I am not worried about picking up mi Salma Hayek the first time; it is the sixth drop in a ten hour riding day that will kill me!

Don, I wasn't really thinking of the Coppr Canyon trip for the MSR bottles. I should have been clearer. I was thinking of some upcoming trips this summer I hope to be able to do on La Poderosa Diabla. I was just passing along tidbits about the fuel bottle fitting in the tube. I thought Joe or others may be interested in knowing it. I'm still not convinced I will be taking the KLR. If I had to guess I'd say there is about a 25% chance.

Even got caught in the crossfire of shoot out between Narcotraficantes right outside of the Mazatlan La Playa Inn and Resort. Muy Peligro and I kept newspaper story clippings!

If Brian goes with me, he'll have Melanie fly down/back. May run in 50 miles to CC from El Fuerte and Alamos to check it out!

That is infamous Rio Urique, all of us will be crossing it many times. You, Joe and I will "spot" each other for the passages!!!

The roads west of Urique and Batopilas are "No Man's Land" to Papa Chuy; but I hear they can be as rough as these videos!!

Yep..., water crossings -- in very rural parts of the world (Sierra Madre Occidental) roads aften follow water courses, rivers, creeks, etc., mainly because there wasn't/isn't big equipment to make cuts and fills to put the road elsewhere. And, just because it was passable last-time -- doesn't mean it will be next-time (snow melts, heavy rains, and flash floods all have a way of changing things...).

Once a DS group I was riding with followed a road of less-than 50 miles that had 42 river crossings (one of the guys mentally counted them)! One of the guys waded in at the very first crossing after first removing his boots and socks and rolling up his pants legs -- needless to say, nobody bothered with that soon after. In fact, one rider said that his old, beat-up, boots were best because the water ran-out of them fast...!

But, judging and navigating (pun intended) water-crossings are a very real necessity and opportunity for problems. Standing on the pegs with good, aggressive, throttle control can help.

Of course that big, round, slippery rock (hidden from view) can be a problem...

I talked with Skip about the fuel situation, he felt like I should be fine with at least a 3.5 gal tank. I havent really figured out the exsisting fuel range yet, but I'm gonna find out before I buy a bigger tank.

Talked with Skip and found a video of one of the river crossings we will have to make, this is going west and we may have to cross it coming back as well. maybe they'll have more boards on it by then!

Guys, just went over all my Mexico maps with a fine tooth comb and even called Brian "El Jefe" Boles. We know of NO Tierradentro or La Plata en "El Cobre", ese!

Wowser, I just went back and looked at that river crossing for the 3rd time; muy peligro. However, I'd let Don Carver take my H-D FXD across that bridge!

I don't know. You'd have to get the FJR certified hydrologist to comment on that. I just design what goes over dat der wasser.
