Well boys and girls tomorrow at 0600 I leave for Copper Canyon :yahoo:
There will be 6 of us from the Mid-west heading down 2 of the party have been to CC 5 or 6 times before the rest will be CC virgins. Once we get to Chihuahua we will be hooking up with Atruro (if you've read enough ADV ride reports about Mexico you may have heard him mentioned) and 2 of his friends. So we'll be traveling with 2 experienced Gringos and 3 Mexicans, should be a hoot. A full report will follow our return. Adios :p :p
Con mucho gusto, Ricardo! Vaya con Dios, mi Compadre. Have fun and I know you'll have a ball. Copper Canyon is one of the hidden jewels of North America riding.

Mas Caminos y mas Amigos, hombre! Saludos y recuerdos, Papa Chuy Medina "El Burrito Ballerina"

Better take lots of photos and bring back advice for me. Is it an organized tour or just guys getting together and getting along?

Envy!!!
Not an organized tour just a bunch of dudes headed south. Photos and video, film at 11, we'll be returning about 2/27/10.

What?   Wow, Ricardo sounds so cool :p

I just placed this on the April 9 run to San Carlos, but this info also applies to our Copper Canyon ride in November. If your bike is financed, you need the Release Letter.

BUMP REMINDER: If you've an interest in riding to San Carlos, MEX 4/9 and don't have a Passport; you need to file for one today; they're taking 6 weeks to process!
PLEASE NOTE: 1) I was just talking to my illegitimate bastard son SkooterG regarding this Mexico ride and the topic of financed motorcycles came up. IMPORTANTE: If your motorcycle is financed and you need a Banjercito to go South of Sonora Estado or anywhere in Mexico except the Baja California Norte y Sur Peninsula - You absolutely must have an Authorization for Mexican Travel from your financing agency. These can take up to a month to obtain from them. Write for your release now!

2) A change on Sunday: After we go fishing in the morning, we will ride directly to Puerto Penasco - Rocky Point to spend the night; we are not staying in Magdalena!

Okay shiny, I found anpther clip of some of the trail will be riding on down in Mexico, enjoy!

fjrrider: Isn't that video un freaking believable! A half dozen people, including ShinyPartsUp, have sent me that video this morning. Most have included a note that reads something like this: "Hola Gordo, is this the trail from Bahuichivo to Cerocahui that you will be riding in Copper Canyon this Fall? Muerte, El Pendejo Grande!"

You got to be kidding...I wouldn't even walk that trail. I almost fell out of my chair leaning left, just by watching the clip.

I just returned form Copper Canyon and all I can say is WOW, what an incredible trip. The start wasn't so incredible, I got sick but with the help form some Mexican antibiotics gastro intestinal health was restored. The scenery was fabulous, I'd seen a lot of photos and videos from the region but none of it measures up to the real thing. We found new roads, saw back street cock fighting, crossed rivers without the use of those pussified bridges, converted a KLR to a hard tail (not mine), ate great food, drank not so good Mexican beer and were welcomed by the warm and friendly Mexican people. I'm going to start on a ride report today probably post it over on ADV Rider I'll post the link here later. Here are a few photos to tide you over...

Oh my word! Gorgeous. I gotta go. Is it November yet? I'm looking forward to the full ride report!
Shiny, did you notice the high water level in the river? Papa Chuy sure did! Ricardo was crossing the river after those big January and February rains that hit Mexico!
I don't know you can still see some rocks sticking out.

No seriously it looks in the picture like it's mostly wide than deep. What do you say Rick? However that's one hell of a long water crossing. :dribble:

Chris, I've crossed that spot before on a BMW R1100GS and a Kawasaki KLR 650; two separate trips; and that is the highest I have seen it! Usually half that width!!!

The folks I was with said the river was low. The crossing wasn't real bad you had to ride down stream about 100 yards in water that was only a few inches deep then about 50 yards across in 1 foot deep water. There was a couple of deeper holes you could find but even those were only about 18 inches deep. There will be pics and videos of that water crossing, we did it 3 times.

Thanks for the information, Rick; and waiting with bated breath for your Ride Report! I've only gone to CC in months of September & October; hardly any river water.
