The Magnificent Seven Return to Mexico!! I was born in 1948 and my favorite Western growing up was The Magnificent Seven, which came out at the movies in 1960.
We are now up to The Magnificent Seven for our FJR Forum Expedition Trek through Mexico's Copper Canyon. Since I'm starting this post, I get to be Steve McQueen.

Shiny, you now have me going on learning some Spanish. I checked out Rosetta Stone site and the first course alone is $200 wow! :huh: Well there's no way the Wife is going to agree to this and honestly I don't blame her. However has anyone successfully used some other program that's a bit cheaper?
By the way, I did fail Spanish is Middle School, however I'm mostly sure it was due to my damn attitude.

Thanks Don, I pretty much should have flunked Spanish, but the young curvy woman instructor liked me, so I got a "Mercy" C in Spanish at college. I'd be interested if you find something Don.
My newly deceased best friend's widow has the first Rosetta Stone Spanish instruction module, so I may ask to borrow it from her.
I think basic phrases are a necessity.

It's funny Chris, but I've same photos of my 1996 BMW R1100GS that look just like that. But usually the picture shows my fat old ass pinned beneath Mi Mexico Mule!!Here's the Big Gurl taking a nap out in the woods! :dribble: I hate when she takes off and does these things without my permission!

LOL! I've noticed that my Honda gets a lot more tired than the little Yamaha did, and needs a lot more naps. In fact every weekend that we ride in the desert, Honda needs to take at least one and usually more naps. The good news is that either I'm getting stronger or Honda is getting out of bed more willingly.
This last trip involved no go-downs at all, which must be a record for me.

It was a really big challenge picking her up this time. Oh did I mentioned I was by myself :wacko: You really can't tell from the picture but the bike is stuck in a 4 foot deep culvert in which the front tire is stuck on a up hill and the back tire is resting on the down hill. Then to top if off somone had to put that darn tree in my way also. I was really starting to get concern when the fuel started to pour out of the bike.

It should hopefully get easier for you as you continue to practice. This is my first drop in over 5 months. I hate to say it but when I first got my bike that poor gurl was on the ground all of the time :wub:

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'd got to a point where my little 125 only bit the dust on very rare occasions (all due to rider error). The learning curve has started all over with the taller bike. I get into places where I could have held the little bike up but haven't the reach for the taller one. And then..... each trip I take a bit more time on Andy's WR250 to really see how life is, up among the clouds.

Got a little Mexico primer trip planned for August 28th through September 5th in southwestern Colorado, around the Ouray, Lake City area. Theres 5 or 6 of us going so far. If anyones interested post up!

I'm definitely up for it! I'm in Red River, NM, and that's only a li'l hop away from my place. I made a similar trip last summer in a Toyota FJ Cruiser from Lake City over Cinnamon Pass, comming out near Silverton. I'd love to make the trip on my GS! Please, more details!

Sorry to be slow in responding, its been really busy the last week or so (a good thing) Check out this thread from another web site https://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47278 I dont know any of these people but the time frame fits mine and I want to go out there and ride the new KTM. I've been out there many times, but always Jeeping or on a road bike. Dont know what the pace will be like, but you never do when on the first rides with new friends. I was just hoping to ride all those good jeeping roads out there like
"Black Bear" "Imogene" "Engineer Pass" maybe some of the stuff up towards Grand Junction. For sure all "Off Road" stuff and if some single track technical stuff comes along that would really be icing on the cake.
Some of these guys are camping some staying in the hotel https://timberridgelodgeouray.net/ I'm a hotel guy. There cominhg together to ride Sunday through Wednesday. I will get out there on a Friday evening (27th) ride Saturday through Friday, head back home on the next Saturday (4th).
I'm up for any kind of ridng anybody wants to do, and that SouthWest Colorado area has plenty of it.
"Black Bear" "Imogene" "Engineer Pass" maybe some of the stuff up towards Grand Junction. For sure all "Off Road" stuff and if some single track technical stuff comes along that would really be icing on the cake.

Whaddyathink...will a BMW GS 1200 Adv. be too big-a-bike for this one? The area I've 4-wheeled up there was Cinnamon pass and tooled around American Basin and that wouldn't be a problem. I would just hate to be a boat anchor for everyone else if it came to real technical riding...opinions are welcome.
