Those pictures just may be too sexy for this forum!

Also I just ordered this Camelbak Military Mule. I already own a Military type Camelbak which I been mainly using for my MSF classes. However thanks to a recent article in the MCN rag, it gave me the idea to buy one with some storage (the MULE has 500 cu inch of space). My plan is to store my first aid kit in it. Also here's some advice... it's a little more but if you every buy a Camelbak make sure it's the Military version. The military version includes the insulated tube, shutoff and quick hose disconnects for easy cleaning.
I use a MOTOFIZZ large bag on the FJR for long trips. I just bought a mule on sale that 'zilla found on-line. It is as described -- a bit big but I'll try anyyhing once. Do you run a little vinegar through the tubing to clean it, then flush well?
How do you like the Motofizz bag?

Was it the Military version MULE? How much did you pay? I paid $97 shipped to the door.

As for cleaning All I been doing is just rinsing it out real good and then hanging it upside down to let it air dry. If you do leave any liquid in there it will get nasty real quick. I also purchased Camebak's Elixir to try in the MULE. It will be the first time I have used something other than water in a Camelbak.

I like beemerdons suggestion of running tequilla through the camelback to clean it... but yours is practical too. :D

I love the motofizz for the FJR. I think the small or mediumversion would work well on the trail, but haven't seen those sizes, so YMMV. I have about 10, 000 miles on the motofizz and it looks close to new with no noticeable fading or rips or damage. Very good quality. Pricey though.

As for the mule, it is in camo and off a military supply site HotRodzilla posted up was having a sale. I got it for less than 50 bucks shipped. I'm not home to really check, but I think it is the military version. Looks to be top shelf in design... you might look up 'zilla on the forum and his recent topics. You'll find the link and description there.

Wowser Chris, You definitely have The Big "O" Gurl ready for our Copper Canyon Mexico Expedition Trek in November. She's definitely equipped for any Los Caminos, Verdad!!!

Not a good morning....

I went out to warm up the KTM and as I was standing there waiting I decided to kick off some of the mud that has accumulated on the foot peg. As I did this I ended up hitting the gear shift instead. The bike jumps forward hitting the back of the FJR. Down goes the FJR just missing the Wife's new SUV. What the F&**T*&^*&^*KKK!!!

Now, I tell all my new Riders to always keep your bike in gear when parked. I just moved the FJR within garage the other day and didn't put her back in gear!!! If I would off done what I freaken preach, I probably wouldn't have hundreds of dollars of damage to pay out in repairs!

Sorry for the rant, I'm just not a happy camper right now!

Many of us feel your pain on multiple levels Chris. That's all I'll say.

Thanks!

I just PM Garauld to see if he's willing to paint my bag and mirror.

Very sorry to hear about your boo-boo this morning, Chris! But something similar to this has happened to everyone on our FJR Forum, at one time or another. Bustanut joker once made the mistake of screwing the sister of his favorite sheep, Mollie; poor Bust didn't get any nookie from Mollie for over a month. Sometimes in this old life, **** just happens! Per dcarver: jes' sayin'!!

I have a guestimate from him on painting my sidebags. Good choice! I just have to dedicate the funds...

Poor Bust my problem are minor compared to his

I am pretty sure I am going to pick up an 07 DRZ 400 for the trip.

The 07 KLR is a little top heavy on the real rough stuff for me

since I have a bad back. Now I hope this is a little easier. Will keep the

KLR for now. Will get rid of the DRZ when the trip is over. Hope to sell it

to Nick my son when we get back

Any thoughts on this decision?

Joe

Sounds like a good plan. You may want to firm up with Nick if he'll want it when you are done with it. Being confident in your ride is a huge advantage to having a fun ride. I'd say do it if finances are not a concern. You asked...

Shiny, Thanks for the reply.

Finances not a problem now.

Nick wants it now but he has financial problems that

should be OK in early December.

The only money problems is getting it ready.

Did a lot to the KLR and now maybe a new bike.

Joe,

I really like that idea....Hmmmm I should be nice and buy my son me a bike too. I know he I could really use it. But than again, I would have to get my his new bike ready for the trip. I would also have to explain why I'm doing all these mods to my his bike. Then there's the problem of the bike being gone all the time because I'm using my his bike to practice with. :dribble:  :D

Chris, it would not be his till I get back.

He lives in Calif, so he would not know what I was doing to HIS bike.

Since the trip is 7 months away, he will have plenty of time

to save up the money to buy it from me. (I hope)

No I totally understand, I was just kinda thinking out loud on a way I could get a thumper with the blessing from the wife. :) I think this angle could actually work for me  .

Sounds like your son is doing great! B) Good job! :clapping: My son who's 19, doesn't even have a pot to piss in let alone plans for the future. :angry2:

Well I'm off to ride in a little dirt in the Oconee Nat Forest :p

Hey Joe,

While I was at the Overland Expo held in April (just south of Tucson in Amado) I met Nicole on a DRZ400. She builds a really nice rack for it. Check it out https://www.ruggedrider.com

And since this IS the dirty minded Riders forum.... she has a nice rack herself! And single!

Hope you can help her out.

BTW The Overland Expo 2011 will be held in Amado again next spring. For all you dual sport riders out there, WELL WORTH the trip. I took LOTS of motorcycle mini classes. That's where I met Nicole.

Is there dates set for the expo yet?

Thanks Rick,

That's about 30 miles away from my Mother Inlaw's 2nd home in Rio Rico. It looks like I may be planning another trip. :clapping:
