Well I am in the middle of changing my tires, and I am noticing odd patterns on my front tire that I didn't notice on previous tires. ( front only )

I have been running Roadsmarts for the past couple sets of tires, and had good luck with them, but this set wore in such a way that I have been wanting to get rid of them for about 1000 miles now. The front wore a 1 inch flat spot in the middle ( thats understandable since 50% of my ridding is getting me to the curves ) But then the sides drop off at a straight 45 deg flat for 1.5 inches and then another sharp edge before I get to full lean. this upsets the way the bike handles at critical lean angles and since at 80% lean angle there is a sharp edge there is little tire patch so it lets go.

The tire also has some cupping that my other set didn't seem to have. the Bike now has 21k on it so I don't know if I should attibute this to it neeing fork oil change or , how long should the springs last? or do I just need to adjust the suspension different. I just buoght a set of PR2's and at the price they cost ( $314 otd at cycle gear with them on sale! )

I don't want to waste them if I can avoid it.

anyone els having such issues?

PS

IT's an 07 model.

There is nothing wrong with your FJR. What you have experienced with the RoadSmarts is quite typical of other FJR riders, including myself. It's the crap tire, not you or your bike's settings, etc.

Toss on the PR IIs and enjoy the silly smile in your helmet that comes with fresh rubber.

You are due for a fork oil change too, but it's not a contributing factor.

-Well that's just great. I just spooned on a new RoadSmart on the front because the Avon Storm was developing such bad cupping that I would almost go into a tank slapper at 45mph if I took my hands off the bars. I've got 2 bikes, 3 others I sorta oversee, and it just bothers me that I'll have to toss a tire while there's some tread left on it because of cupping. Rant over, I'll go sit down now.

You're not alone. Some have reported no problems, but the majority seem to have the weird three band type of wear on the front.

I have had a couple tires that wobbled on decel if I let go of the bars to rest my wrist. The roadsmarts never did that even at the end. But I road to Church this morning with just the front PR2 on it and going from funky shaped tire to nice round ones again, I would have thought anything felt great. and the Roadsmarts did fine for a while, but in the end you would wish your only problem was wobble.
