how about i meet you guys here for lunch at about 12.30?Richard
Great idea. See you there.
Ouch, talk about bad timing. I have a slow leak in my Diablo Strada rear after 3.5k miles. Not sure where yet, but definitely leaking. House of Motorcycles in El Cajon has Bridgestone 021's in stock for 200 for the pair plus install and opens at 8:30, or Two Wheel Tires in Santee opens at 10 and has PR-2's in stock for $370 + 20/tire to install.I'll probably go with the 021's this time, might even just do the rear (on sale for 112). My front Strada still looks fine.Any feedback on either place is appreciated if any San Diegans read this tonight. I'm going to get whichever tire in the morning then hit the road and meet my g/f for the day, and then head out Sat morning for the 10am meeting spot. No word from other San Diegans about crossing over and meeting up on the 5.
Ray, You should be happy with the BT 21's. I just when thru a pair. Nothing but positive things to say about them.

Sent you a pm regarding House of Motorcycles and the ride. Talk to you later hopefully.

I'm a little confused at the expectation that we'll already be in Ojai by 12:30 if we're not leaving the start point until 10 and heading way up into los padres from there. Are we changing the route at the last minute again?

It's two hours from Lake Hughes area to Ojai on a bad day.

Ah, okay. Thanks. Low Level and myself+passenger will be heading up the 5 from somewhere yet to be decided.

Count me in as well. (snip) If we go for the next morning, a good meeting place would be at the Denny's off of Oceanside Harbor Boulevard. This is on the same exit as Camp Pendelton off of the 5. My calculations show that we would have to meet there and leave by 8:00am at the latest to arrive by 10:00. There is a gas station right there so we could top off before the run up. It is approximately 122 miles from there to Castaic. I will see if Steve is game for this ride. It'd be nice if some other San Diego County riders joined up with us.
Dave
Okay, I'm turning in for the night. The current plan for me is to be at that Denny's at or around 6:30am. It is my intention to leave that area no later than 7am as I am paranoid about driving through LA in the morning, even on a Saturday, and we have to cut right through the meat of it on the 5.

Low Level, I'll meet you there, or you have my cell number now. Any other San Diegans that wish to meet up are welcome as well, but I'm not comfortable waiting until 8 to leave Oceanside. I'd rather risk getting to Castaic too early and have some time to shoot the bull up there before the 10am stands-up deadline.

See you all there (presuming HOM gets my tires changed okay).

Oh, and just like before, I will be packing sockets, hex's and screwdrivers in a side pouch on my tank bag and the camera again on the other side. Past that, you're on your own if you need tools.

I'll also be bringing something to give to TWN or someone else going to Avila the next weekend to pass on to toecutter. EDS nailed me today for a work-related trip that will see me likely miss Avila and definitely have to pull out of the Spank (very peeved on that one).

No, I will not let anyone change it last minute again. That proves to be problematic. Although, Larry (not to mention any names) really tried and suggested twice that the route go clockwise rather than counter clockwise.

As a note to Larry and all other human GPS units, the next ride is down south in San Deigo. I am shotting for Laguna Mountain and surronding areas. I willl take any and all route suggestions before the ride is posted!!

Now you must admit that it was kind of a "cool idea"........LOL

I thought I got my 2 cents in early. Even I,.........the ultimate GPS novice,

know how to use that invert route button..........now where did I put that monkey wrench?

I don't even own a monkey wrench.

I humble myself to Barry's original route and that's fine with me.

Although, if I don't shake this stinkin' cold by this afternoon I might not be

able to ride. I might blow the helmet off my head........

Ojai Cafe Emporium review..........Katie, November 18, 2006

"Ojai Cafe Emporium breakfast & lunches are incredible. I recommend this eatery to all our guests at the Inn. They all love it!"

My feminine epicurian instincts sense "sissy food" here...... But I will belay that thought for having never eaten there baffore.

Left you a message on your cell phone. I gotta bail on this one after all, I hate it when work gets in the way of my play. I figured I could take today and get in a quiet place to finish up the major end of fiscal year evaluations for my team and write up my self assessment then upload before my deadline on Sunday. Didn't happen. :angry2: I will be sitting at my desk tomorrow morning finishing the task and uploading it to NSPS. Only high note for the bike was that my Yamaha Tall Touring Windshield showed up today so I'll have something to do with the bike on Sunday. :yahoo: Good luck guys and enjoy the ride. If things change and I just say heck with it, I'll see you at the start point in Oceanside.

Barry,

I've got 11 hours to shake this crud off before 8:15 AM. Beth's walking around with a

bandanna around her face like I have the plague because she can't get sick.

No fever just barkin' like a seal.

I've got the whole ride pasted in my head already. This is one I was looking forward to.

Hope you can make up for the lost Mt. Lassen Park ride.

If I'm not there by 8:10 AM...........take off and have a great ride.
