After installing the intercom, my neck wasn't as sore and the ringing in my ears stopped. She stopped whacking me on the helmet to get my attention. Hell, I hardly even flinch anymore.
I am suspicious that this year's Utah 1088 is not going to be quite as warm as we are used to.....
A high of only 83 degrees on Game Day?
Perhaps that traditional sucker bonus down in Las Vegas might be more attractive to try to find some warmth....
So are you guys using the PR2B or just plain PR2 on the rear ??I could really give a shit what anyone else runs on their FJR -tires are a personal choice and opinions will differ. As much as it pains me to admit this to my rubber-side-down-challenged friend.......I agree 100% on every single point. I got about 13K out of my PR2 rear from the IBR last year. I could notice a slight scallop with my hands, but no where near an ME-880 and no howl I could tell. The PR2 front I had made it over 18000 miles and the best wearing front I've ever had.Wow, you all be drinking the same rancid kool-aid. I've only been through one PR2, (currently at 13,500 miles and just about shot) and I love it. No howl or funky wear pattern.
And after running two sets of Storms: Never again!
My NEPRT-worthy rating for tires for combination of mileage, wear, and scalloping would be:
PR2
PR
Azarro
ME-880
Storm
i've gone through a fair amount of tires on this bike and all the major brands .....and IMO thePR2's are a whole different level of performance than anything else and until something better comes out, they get the nod for my bike. Of course we all want more, but compared to the other stuff -->PR2's are it for me. I don't get nearly the wear that iggy does, and the front eventually gets funky ...but our bikes are fat and if pressing hard it'll make any front tire funky. The PR2 holds as well as any.
What year was it when it was an INFERNO? I was carrying 2 gallons on the bike that year, drank both between one So Utah gas stop and felt the effects of heat exhaustion before I could refill. ..............
I won't claim last year was the hottest year ...but it was hot enough where I had the dreaded boiling gas as I made my way out of Vegas early afternoon. By Colorado City (mid afternoon) I was blowing gas out the aux and had a 3foot high geiser when I opened my primary fuel cap.You just know it's gonna be 100+ degree broiling temps in the southern part of the state on Game Day... here we go....
I understand the RM has control over the weather websites in the weeks leading up to the rally (?). Something about mind games. :evil:Now weather.com is saying that Salt Lake City will be heating up seasonably.....

Aww man! I didn't need that little tidbit. Now it's going to be rattling around in my head......like me being a rat in the RB's coffee can. :blink:I understand the RM has control over the weather websites in the weeks leading up to the rally (?). Something about mind games.
TEA OIL SHAMPOO??? Seriously -- is there some functionality in that or just an inside LDR joke?Planning to leave early a.m. Thursday, stop off at a Supercuts for a tea oil shampoo, and #4 sheering.
Besides not being tested on animals, tea oil leaves the hair softer, shinier, manageable and tangle free. It also is flame retardant, and rumor has it serious LD types use it so their hair doesn't catch on fire :aarambo: .TEA OIL SHAMPOO??? Nah...it's just as close as he'll ever get to a John Edwards $400 haircut.TEA OIL SHAMPOO??? Seriously -- is there some functionality in that or just an inside LDR joke?Planning to leave early a.m. Thursday, stop off at a Supercuts for a tea oil shampoo, and #4 sheering.

I was debating whether to detail or not....what the hell.TEA OIL SHAMPOO??? Seriously -- is there some functionality in that or just an inside LDR joke?
Morman version of a "happy ending"??I was debating whether to detail or not....what the hell.TEA OIL SHAMPOO??? Seriously -- is there some functionality in that or just an inside LDR joke?
It's partly LD stuff......I think it started in SPANK 2008 where Zelenz gave us serious bonus points for capturing a video of us getting a shampoo from a barber during the rally. I probably should upload my experience from an I-80 truck stop in Wyoming.....
That, for me, merged into an annual summer ritual of removing my accumulated winter hair with a #4 and #2 shaver at an SLC area Supercuts just before the Utah 1088. Last year I rolled into a suburb of SLC in the fast-heating morning and the particular store I picked was staffed by a single attractive 19 year old lady very likely of the LDS persuasion. She straight lined, "Sir, would you like a tea oil shampoo scalp massage for $3 more?....it's really nice!"
I said yes after zero hesitation.
I even gave a $5 tip for the whole experience. Riding the rest of the way to SLC with a soothed, tingly scalp, looser helmet, and minty smell I now call it getting a "Mormon Rub and Tug". Best $3 (plus tip) one can spend!
If riding away with a PG-13 smile is a happy ending...then yes. Having lived in Utah for several years.....not of LDS persuasion...it's a very interesting place culturally to be a visitor.Morman version of a "happy ending"??

.....and a stellar place to go ride your FJR for a weekend! Can't wait to leave!
Heh... I'll believe I should print this out and see if perhaps Chalmers would like to read it at the Rider's Meeting!I even gave a $5 tip for the whole experience.
