Great news Carl. Glad to read that you are getting out of the hospital and can go home. You will be much more comfortable there in your own surroundings. Check your messages...you have a PM.

Great news on the escape plan. I hope it works out and you're home when you read this. Hospitals have a purpose, but it's always nice to be home and in your familiar surroundings where you can hobble around w/o being yelled at when you go for a beer. ;-)

I hope you can be comfortable at home and they gave you a decent scrip for pain. PM Radio Howie about the motor if you buy the bike back. That boy needs a bit of luck. I can ship it for cheap out of Portland if need be.

Ok guys. Sorry it so long. So here are some pics of the crash and some battle scars.

This is from the first surgery to pull out Femur from Pelvis and to put plates and screws to fix broken Pelvis. This is looking at the side of my left hip.

This is from the second surgery to remove bone fragments. This is looking just the the side of my groin.

I will get pics of the current view of the bike.

Wow all your stitching you kinda look like a base ball being sewn up

At least your are in good spirits take your time healing

weekend rider

What stitching? Those are staples! Glad you're making progress and thanks for sharing the pics. Keep healing Carl. I hear oral sex is a good endorphin hit if the pain meds aren't enough. ;)

Yep those are staples. About 24 on the front and about 35-40 on the side. I am getting around, you know turbo speed on the walker and all. I hear ya about the oral sex, but I hope that wasn't an offer, your not "that" pretty! Come on now, I broke my Pelvis, I didn't go blind! Don't think I didn't appreciate the offer! Lol

Thanks again everyone for all the kind thoughts!

<shudder>, not an offer, you're married! I figured you could work that angle on your own with the lovely bride. It does remind me of a good skooterG joke, but I'll have to type that later. Back to work for me.

Carl, from the position of the sun in the pix, it would not surprise me to learn that she was blinded by the sun, which would seem to be shining directly in her eyes as she was gazing your way during her entry into the street.

Also, it would surprise anyone that you were doing in excess of the speed limit, judging by the comparative lack of damage to her car. Had you hit her at 30-40 mph, both your vehicles would have seen much more damage. Good that you showed the pics, and hopefully the officer would take those into account in reviewing his report.

Hope your are healing up well. A special gift from the forum will be on its way shortly, use wisely.

wow, made my day to get updated on ya good sef Carl and see here that ya chin is up.

we definitely hope we can send some uplifting spiritual mojo and maybe a few laughs and smiles your way as you heal.

thanx for staying in touch and we invite you to do so.

ya still on my "top five" prayer list for continued healing until ya back to normal physically.

Best to you and your sweet family and Cheers,

Mike in Nawlins'

Carl,

First and foremost, I hope you heal up quick!!! Thank God it wasn't worse!!

Second, I'll give you a little info that can or can't help you. My sister was in a very simular accident but in a car. She was in the position of the car that hit you. Even though my sister and the cops could verify that the car that hit her was exceeding the speed limit, he hit her so hard it put her mini van on its side, the reality was she was the one entering/crossing the road. It was her responsibility to yield to ALL traffic, speeding or not.

As drivers, its our responsibility to judge traffic and wether or not we can pull out safely. IE: when you enter a freeway, if you are not comfortable getting up to the speed of the traffic whether that is 75mph or 55mph, its still your responsibility to not impeed traffic.

Hence, it doesn't matter how fast you were going, unless there is a stop sign in your line of travel, it is her responsibility NOT to pull out in front of you. Long story short, my sister was found at 100% fault for her accident and her insurance ended up paying for a totalled car and mini-van, even though there was proof that the teenager that hit her was exceeding the speed limit.

Heal up quick!!!

Ray

... waiting.....
Well ok, but like I said, it's a SkooterG joke, so prepare yourself.

Years ago, SkooterG walks into a bar, immediately steps up to the bar and proclaims -

"Line up five shots of whiskey! I'm celebrating my first blow job!"

The bartenders puts the glasses on the bar and pours away with SkooterG downing each shot immediately after it's poured. The bartender, somewhat impressed with Skooter's ability to pound down the shots, says -

"Hell, let me buy you another to help you celebrate."

Skooter responds -

"Nah, that's ok, if the first five didn't wash the taste out of my mouth, another won't help."

I sent the first payment representing all donations made through this weekend.

Thanks to all who participated, this effort raised just over $3300, which I know will help Carl and Jonnie get through a very trying recovery.

The Forum again humbles me with its generosity.

A report has been sent to escapeartist for independent verification should anyone have questions about their donations.

I agree completely. I can't say it enough, but I thank everyone on here so much, just for the thoughts and prayers alone! Then the people that donated, wow. My biggest thanks would be to David (Hudson) and George (escapefjrtist) for setting all this up.

Ok Update time. Well, last Thursday I got all the staples removed. I was told that this whole process could be more like a year, unlike 6 months that we thought. I am still getting around everyday, sometimes more then I should. Like this weekend on short notice, we drove up to the drag strip in Kent (near Seattle) to watch a taping of "Pinks AllOut" which will air in Nov. some time. It was a long freaking day that kicked my @$$. It was worth it though. I spent all day in my wheelchair and back brace. We left our house at around 5am and got home at about 2:30am. I was tempted a couple times to call Auburnfjr to take a nap at his house, sense he was so close. lol I had my daughter and some good friends with me and It was a great time. I wish I have had some time to see some of you guys up there.

Another cool thing happen. My daughter, which is 10 and one of the coolest kids around was cuddling with me this weekend and for the hell of it, I asked her "Do you think I should get another bike and ride again?". She turned to me with the weirdest look on her face and said "Why are you asking me that? Of course you should, dad. You never give up. Besides, who else am I gonna ride with?" I honestly started crying. I love this kid!

Thank again everone. I will try to keep you all updated. Next appointment is with the spine surgen.

Carl
