It seems the digitizer (part of the LCD screen) on Garmin Zumo 450/550's are prone to premature death leaving the your GPS useless. Not fun. Gee I thought these units were designed for the rigors of motorcycle riding thus justifying the high price....

A simple and inexpensive fix is to replace the entire GPS LCD - so easy a fool can do it - so I did. And here is how: https://home.comcast.net/~jimfontana/gps.htm

Happy digital trails to you....

You can save some money and buy the digitizer by itself. It just takes a few minutes with sharp knife (e.g., x-acto) to get the old digitizer off the LCD screen.

Just make sure you measure the original digitizer and order a new one of the same size. There's 2 sizes available out there, and one of them would be too small (at least for mine). The seller I bought from claimed that Garmin used slightly different sizes in earlier vs. more recent production runs.
