I had forgotten that I have a CT on my FJR. Does that mean that it works fine for me on the bike or what? So maybe for the sky is falling peeps, that little fact will let you know that it isn't such a bad thing to try.

  Nope, just you've crashed, burned and gone to nirvana

I've got about 4,000 miles on my CT and the only time I notice it is 1) when someone questions using a CT, or 2) "super twisties" off camber roads.

Yup got back on the bike this year and you are right one does not notice it any more.

How can you not notice. We are all teetering on the brink of self destruction, just seconds away from killing ourselves. The end is near, the sky is falling.

Heck, after 1200 miles I don't even give it a thought anymore.

My apologies! It is actually none of my business what other people do with their sleds. If you want to put a stinkin' knobbie on front and back, good for you. My 2 cents, a car tire on any bike is friggin' ugly as hell and "looks" ridiculous and cheap. That being said, I was out of line when I posted my negative comments about the CT on a FJR or any other bike. Sorry to "offend"!!!! :D

Ugly, ridiculous and cheap... interesting words from someone attempting to apologize for posting negative comments. But hey, the apology is appreciated just the same. Remember the old saying that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder? Call me weird, fine, but I fell in love with the appearance of a CT on the FJR the moment I saw it, and long before I bought my Exalto. In my opinion, which isn't worth much, it looks meaty, robust, and unique. But then again, that's not why I became darksider #44. For me, it began with a bad habit I have. i found myself constantly evaluating the flat stripe down the center of my rear tire and watching it grow wider each week. I could almost feel the dollars going out the window every time I twisted the throttle. So let's see... that makes me cheap, I guess. Fine, I'll admit it. I'm cheap. I'm so tight I squeak. It frustrated me that after 6k miles, I had to cough up a small fortune to replace a rear tire. Come to think of it, I even use compact florescent bulbs in my house (heaven forbid). Yeah, they may look stupid, but I've learned that using my money wisely enables me to exercise another of my bad habits. It's the same reason I bought a used FJR instead of a new one, which I could easily afford by the way. I give a significant amount of my teacher's salary (which ain't much) to my church, my two girls in college, every kid selling cookies, subscriptions, or whatever so they can raise money. Seems like I never have enough to help out my friends and neighbors who don't seem to be able to make ends meet. Some might view me as a sucker, but I'd like to think that the only things you keep in this life are the things you give away. That's why I appreciate so much all I have learned from this thread because my big concern was longevity and safety, and you fellas have been such a help. Thanks for all the time you put into this website. Bottom line, that tire should save me about 500 dollars over it's life time. Hey. Just think of how many of my students I can take out to Taco Bell as an incentive with that much money. It's amazing how much I can teach your kids when they can earn a reward once in a while. You see, I pinch pennies for a reason. I really do hope somebody has the guts to ask me why I want something that looks so cheap on my bike. I'll be happy to share with them my reasons.

Agreed. It's ugly. So what? Maybe white sidewalls would help??

The guy on the left is DS#28 (I couldn't find the naked swimming in the snow picture):

Leaving my helmet and sunglasses on was for your own protection. The others are bad enough . . . .

All in fun, raven. Not trying to start anything. :D

OK, you've talked me into it! Just kidding! Great post though!

Trigger,

It is called the Iron Butt Rally. I should be doing 10-11K miles during those 11 days. OCfjr proved the Exalto can handle it last summer during the 10/10 rally. I will add another data point.
Thilly boy! He *knew* that. The question was sarcastic. Wishing you the best of luck my blasphemous Darksiding friend!

Many thanks,

There were several Wing Darksiders who finished the 09 IBR. I can think of at least 4 right off the top of my head. One Darkside FJR ran, but did not get enough points to be a finisher.

I will do my best to be the first FJR Darksider to finish...

Damn...open up my email to see Ray has replied...hoping beyond hope he's gone Darksiding.

I'm willing to wait, Ray. :p
I have 4 m/c tires to use up first and as little as I get to ride these days it's going to be awhile. If I can teach more people to bring me money then I can ride more.
