That might be my next tire. I have the General Exclaim UHP- looks like the G-Max is the replacement. I'm very pleased with it, but found #32 to be right for me. 35 was to 'square' feeling in turns. The handling is excellent though in all situations.

A more economical tire than the Exalto also ;)

LowAndSilent, that pressure is too high for a car tire. You will probably find yourself wearing the center more than the edges, rather negating the mileage advantage over a bike tire. it is a car tire, not a bike tire, so the pressure you're used to running on the bike is not appropriate to it.

Minor update: my General Exclaim UHP made 30k and the only reason I replaced it then was because of a big chunk out of the sidewall

I still did the 7-11 ride last week, but did not want to push the luck during the Alamo Express. I now have on a General GMax AS-03, 4k on it after today's quick run.

Very nice work on the AE Scott. Glad to hear you and the others had a great time and most a successful ride. :thumbsupsmileyanim: Hopefully a certain Wing rider was taking notes on Darksiding from the 30% of the field that finished their BBG rides. :eh-smiley:

Wish I could have run TLAE with my car tire installed, but speeds were too high. I did not want to be limited to 130mph.

I started the rally with a brand new set of Bridgestone 023s. 500 miles at the start of the rally. Now with just over 3,000 on the rear it is shot. I might be able to get another 1,000 out of it, but it is worn flat in the center. :(

Mr. SkooterG- that was an impressive run, my hats off to you on that one. My CT did pretty well, but I was only doing Mach 1, not Mach 2 like you ;)

Did anyone read the Darksider article in the July 2012 Rider mag?
Care to give us a hint of it's content?
I always want to help you out here mi Hijo, so here was the first sentence: "Any dumbass that would put a car tire on a motorcycle could not have had much of a Mother and is probably Queerer than a three dollar bill!"

In middle of the article they quoted a Traffic LEO from Albuquerque, New Mexico who said: "I pray every damn day for the fiery, flaming aluminum and plastic death of all of these fecking car tire blaspheming jackoffs!

Very last statement was: "If this car tire Jackass from Florida RadioHowie was a dog, then you FJR Forumites should shave his butt and train him to walk backwards, because it would really improve his ugly looks!"

I'm gonna kick yer ass, Old Man!!!!! :p :p :p

(and 'zilla's in line, right after me! :finger: )

Car tires can't be all that special. Without thinking too hard, I already know of 2 people that had to get the POS CT off their bike so they could enjoy the rest of their twisty road vacation,

If I want an FJR to handle badly, I'll put a CT on it. If I want it to handle right, I'll put a mcy tire on it.

For the love of Pete, buying one of the best Sportstouring bikes out there...then purposely putting something on it that handles like @ss!

It was concluded, NOT favorable to use a car tire on an MC, performance and safety wise or could possibly have legal ramifications, and the artical was written by non other than a guy named Eric....

No tix for a while fortunately. Luckily, I was able to talk myself out of one from the nice Arizona Highway Patrol Motor Officer last week.

And no kids either. At least none that I am aware of. ;)

I kind of figured as much. And did the jackwagon that wrote the article EVER ride a motorcycle with a car tire on it?

https://www.stayinsafe.com/ I usually hold the Articles written by Safety Expert Eric Trow in high regard, he definitely know his stuff regarding safe sport touring. By I do agree this article was a "hatchet job", some of the "reasons" and "explanations" Mr. Trow uses are absolutely ridiculous and extremely misleading. Pure Propaganda!

Greg, I've mailed a copy of this 6-page article to you, with your high mileage experiences you would be the perfect Author to rebut Eric Trow's misstatements and errors.

Perhaps challenge him to follow you on the White Spars / Yarnell Grade passes and let him see if he can stay up with you, I was highly impressed by your car tire speed.

DISCLAIMER: I don't have a dog in this hunt, I'm staying with motorcycle tires on my FJR. Plus, I still feel you Dark Siders are just a raging pack of Homo Cocksuckers!
