I've completed a couple of trips on the FJR, and have about 500 miles of experience on the Darkside now. :assassin:
Can anyone with experience running the car tire at/near max PSI chime in with experiences?
Catfish and Carmine are running max pressures, though not on the 019G. Hopefully they will chime in, or you could PM one of them and ask.

FWIW, the slow speed stuff gets better as the tire wears in. And parking lot drills are your friend to get more accustomed to the slow speed feel.

I have a couple thou on the Exalto A/S now and have to say that it handles better than the 019G when new. Time and miles will tell how it wears and how long it lasts.

I'm in!!!!!!

Yeah care to venture what I did wrong??

No machines or mechanical help just three 4 foot bars..

man, I'm the one it seems who is the "not for everyone"
I admit I slab most of the time...the middle of my rear PR2 lasts 15k miles while the edges are more or less pristine

today I got a deal mentioned elsewhere for $218 and some change for a pair https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=130710

front goes in lower 20's k

I still can't rationalize it and still want (well wifey has them) to keep ma balls...
I admit, it's a good idea to purchase or make a CT sized brake arm and run with that along with a list of CT's one could purchase on the road in a tire emergency.

even with PR2's, there's something wrong with my bike...it just doesn't wanna turn

(PR2 with 15.3k miles)

on the other hand, I definitely would get 80-100k on a CT...hummmm, must rethink...

Yeah . . . Ya saw one in person, even followed it for a mile or two. Now you got thoughts in yer mind.

Bwaaaa-hahahahahahahaha!

Bust has been added to the Darkside FAQ as #28. 4 foot tar irons? And they call us sick!

You put it on backwards? I take back what I said about you being a better man than I am, ya dumbshit!

Well I got my tire mounted on the rim last week but because of the damage to my bike I don't have it on yet, so I will take pictures when done. kneedragger45 is selling me his header off his bike so hopefully I have it back together pretty soon. if you did not C the damage check this out. search for 2003 FJR Exhaust

Are ya done yet, *******???
Yes I am thumbdik! :yahoo:

Keyrist I didn't think it was ever gonna happen

Dude at the tire shop marred my rim a little but It was already screwed up from when the shipper delivered it NBD..

I'm going out shortly for a test run and show it off to my Buell an Harley buds..

Now to add the little light saber dude and number to me profile.. Where the fook is he?

:jester:

Ok so it's two days later an' though I'm still alive I have some disturbing(yet expected) news...

My balls have been lost.. No they didn't fall off (they're detachable as all men find once a woman get's her hooks in ya..) No, mizz bust lost em... Fell outa her purse or something.

Anyway....

Gotta say I don't think after 150 miles this is going to be a big deal.. Yes there is an "adjustment process" Kinda like jumping from one bike to another is all.

The front end feels a little vague yet planted( if that makes any sense???) You actually feel more of the road, especially gravel (did maybe 20 miles just to see if I'd crash) seems like It's floating the front some and I may get rid of that by further suspension adjustment..

Granted low speed maneuvering takes a slight bit more effort, once I hit 15 MPH it didn't feel bad at all..

Hit a few miles of what we call twistys in these parts and, after a pass through being good I hit 'em just like I used to.. Steering effort was different but not enough to bug me

.. Nope, I think this is going to be just fine folks!

Supposed to rain pretty good here shortly, I'll see what the water on the road does but at this point I'd venture a guess nothing..

Oh..

Remember how everyone bitched about the kickstand being too long? Tell ya what, it's just right now... Nice lean when she's dropped down on it now.

So quit procrastinating ya fence sitters!! Jump on board this train.. ;)

******

Sounds great Bust. Just remember it's going to throw some serious spray in the rain. Especially if you run w/o the bags on.

Just tell Miz Bustanut that you're a dirty boy and need a bath. With the right amount of foreplay and said correctly, you won't be posting on the forum for a couple of hours. B) ;)

Bust's notes on the front end feel remind me that I've intended to post this:

The only thing that's bothered me is if I shift while turning, it seems like it kicks the front out and then it catches again. Felt like 5 inches the first time it happened, but it's probably just a really tiny slip. Nevertheless, it's rather odd.

At this point Walt I think it's somewhat related to the added traction the wider tire affords??? possibly slightly lifting the front..

I dunno.. I'm going to "relax" the spring on the backend and mess with rebound etc..here in a few and add the results if warranted..

Feck! I just realized this might take an hour or two... Might be best if I have a spotter.
