Got my tire on Saturday. .... Now give me my number.
:baaasmiley:

Hammer, you are Darksider #29. So noted in the FAQ.
Let me know when you get to 68. I want the 69 number!

Don

The rate that forum members are succumbing to the forces of the dark side, you better start shopping for your tyre this weekend.

The force is strong within you, I could tell when you rode my bike a few months back.

Actually, you did all right with that paddle shifting darksider on your 6 mile dirt/gravel driveway.

Don't deny it...

You want one !
It's only just a matter of time.

Got back from a trip to AR in early June. Took the next month or so to go over bike, clean and lube pivots, change CT, etc and was riding the FZ to work. Finally got on the FJR (after trying to start it for a few days, forgot the need to fire it up at least once every week or two). Couldn't believe what a pig it was, thought I forgot how to ride a CT! Then I replaced the clapped out (triangular shaped) front tire-all is good, ready for the left coast next week. Ian, Iowa

I'm a DarkSide wannabe- I just picked up the brake arm re-locator thingy. Soon as the rear gets worn some more, CT will be going on.

It's too quiet around here.

I thought some nay sayers might be interested in this video of FJRONAMISSION on a rather spirited run in our local hills.

Brian gets over pretty far in some of those turns.

Kinda makes the argument "car tyres can't lean" sound rather hollow. :p

Being a Darksider myself, I'd like to see a setup ride on a clean, well paved Southern California road, full of twisties that features Fairlaner in the lead position with a equally experienced rider (not me) riding chase utilizing a CT on the rear. Of course there would need to be yet another equally experienced and capable rider in the rear position using a couple cameras video taping the whole event.

That ride would once and for all demonstrate the ability of a car tire. The bike in the chase position wouldn't have to stay right behind Richard, but just not allow him to pull too far ahead.

Is this wishful thinking?

I doubt a rematch is in order. Nobody died the last time, it showed the CT is capable and it managed to piss off other people trying to enjoy their drive :glare:

So Ray, whose panties got all twisted? :p

Fairlaner's got pretty bunched up from what I hear. What Big D proposed essentially occurred w/o the cameras. Nothing ever needed to be 'proved'. Those of us already darksiding know it works. Those that believe it doesn't will argue despite any factual evidence.

The type of testing that would make sense is on the track and skid pad. Any "match up" on the street is just stupid. Too many temptations to push the envelope beyond common sense just to keep up with whom ever is in front.

Ok..............I am now Canadian Darksider # ???

Picked up a Michelin pilot Exalto in Gatlinburg last week and threw it on yesterday.......by myself......with just the tools in the photo (and a bit of soapy water)

I left it out in the sun for an hour and it really made it easier to pop on. It took a bit more effort to lever on than a moto tire, but it wasn't bad. I just had to keep the bead in the well as I went along (it practically seats itself).

Here's the brake arm with the "Brodie Mod"

Then I went for a spin....................(pressure at 30psi)

First impressions?? This is totally wild!! Went over to the local twisty road and had at it. I figured from what I had read I could bank it over no problem .....well you can, and I did. I wasn't peg dragging, but I took it through at the same spirited speeds I would go on the moto tire. More effort required? Yes, but I got used to it, and you do need to hold the effort through the corner as the tire wants to "stand up". I did notice it felt a bit more "soft" in the back end (sidewall flex?). Then again, I think my stock shock has had it, and I have the raising links in (I might put the stockers back on). Also, the tire does weigh about 5 lbs more than normal. I am still running the old Azzaro (badly cupped) on the front so turn in effort might improve with the PR2 I have waiting.

I'll try a few different settings with air pressure/shock/raising links, and report back. So far I like it. I'll be using it for commuting and I can throw the moto rear back on (2nd rim) for other occasions.
