I'm glad everyone had a good time. I know I did, but just a bit disappointed I couldn't take everyone around Vermont. And I can show Fred some roads in VT that make your NH roads look GOOD!

Tom

I hear that.

Hey, if we get the same group of people next year, maybe we should do the Daks and Greens and stay on the VT/NY border?

Just something to think about for 12 months...

Hey guys and gals ! Made it home at 10:15. Charlie described our ride spot on.....WETTTTTTTT ! Maine was good though and it never rained on us when Mem, Mark and I left Charlie. We had no problems whatsoever but the three of us were pretty pooped! We got to Houlton Maine and I separated from the other 2. I suspect that they too got home around 10ish.
Had a wonderful time. It was nice to put faces to names, CJ was a little frightening but what the hell! Looking forward to the next ride and will post pics soon!

Fred, thanks for pulling this together.

Chris
Are you implying that Charlie is a rain magnet ?

I hear that.

From what I hear about HERFJR when she leads I want to be in Freds group.

OK. I am finally home. Stayed at my brothers in MA for the night hoping the the heaviest of the rain would move through. It did for the most part. I ran in some rain on and off until about Rt 78 on 287 south in Jersey. Then the sky cleared and the rest of the trip was dry and warm. 89 degrees here right now. I may jump in the pool! I made the trip stopping only once! 474 miles. Averaged better than 46 mpg.

Glad to hear that everyone else made it home safe.

Fred, great ideas for future rides. I certainly didn't break your rule. I had a whole lot of fun. See you at NAFO!

Bob

That's great. Everyone home safe even with the crappy weather.

OK, so I guess I lied. I have two "rules".

You must have fun. No exceptions.

And no group ride is a complete success unless everyone makes it home safely.

So listen, if you didn't catch this already, Tom (snikr) has started a photo thread from this ride here: Clickie.

So far there ain't too many piccies posted. Let's see 'em

I've got a few, I'll try to put something together later today.

Replying to this post from a different thread:

Why dontcha add the covered bridges in Bath? Then you could get the Bricks store in too. I know...not exactly Southern NH....
After all was said and done we should have done it Saturday....dinner at Jesse's was underwhelming....jes sayin
Yes, Bob, this is true. I received feedback (mostly solicited) that many other folks who were also underwhelmed by Jesse's especially the quality of their steaks.

I was, and am, very disappointed. I had it on good authority that they were a top notch steak house. All I can assume is that the steaks they use for groups such as ours are not as good as the ones they serve to folks off the menu. If true, that's just a dumb move.

Here's a copy of the email I sent to the two ladies on the staff that helped me set up the group dinner:

Ladies,
Just a quick note of thanks for arranging our group dinner on Saturday, and a bit of feedback. Everything went exactly as planned. Your "Greenhouse" room facility was perfect and our two servers were outstanding; highly accommodating.

Unfortunately, we were rather underwhelmed by the meat quality of the sirloin steaks we were served. While the flavor was quite good, and they were cooked correctly to order, the meat was rather tough. Certainly not what we expected from a proclaimed "steak house". The other dinners (fish and chicken) were fine.

I arranged the group's dinner at Jesse's because I had heard very good reviews of your steaks from (several) prior patrons, whose taste I respect. I do not know if the steaks that you use(d) for the group dinners are of a different quality from what one would get off the menu, but I'm afraid that we will not be returning next year, at least not as a group.

I know that feedback is important to any establishment, and thought it was important to pass these thoughts along.

Thanks again for helping to arrange a successful outing.

Best Regards,

Fred W----

Well done Fred. You're truly a gentlemen.

I actually didn't think it was that bad for the price . . . I've certainly had better, and many far worse. I thought it about average.

Thanks again for your herculian effort in making all the arrangements and planning.

Tom _ I know you put a lot into it as well - I'm still bummed about the rain - we'll get it in next time.

Thanks for all you two do!

We arrived home at 7:15pm tonight. We had a great time meeting everyone. Though the ride to Road Runners yesterday was a little treacherous we had a great dinner and relaxing evening. A dry 10hr ride today to top it off. I'll get some pics together and post them on the Pic thread. Oh and thanks to the LLBean store for some much needed rain gear. Glad everyone made it home safe and Thanks to all those who did the organizing.

Keith n Terry

Better late than never. But we were having too much fun visiting with Bigbeavk and Littlebeavt  last night to check the forum.

Edit; Now thats funny, I don't care who ya are.

pmk6v, Sniker, FJREd, and I rode to Smugglers Notch and back to the motel on Sunday. It was about a 200 mile round trip, in the rain.

Pete & Carol, Keith & Terry, Felicia & myself got home last night about 4:30. The ride home was uneventful, except for it rained the whole time. We all got cleaned up then went out for dinner. After dinner the dryer was going for a while to get all the gear dried out for the Beav's ride home today. While the gear was drying the Beav's (Keith & Terry) and the Runner's (Felicia and I) had a great time visiting. Keith and Terry spent the night at my house before heading home to Maryland today.

We all had a great time this weekend, in spite of the weather. So a big thanks to Fred W, Tom, and Ed for putting this all together.

See ya all next time.
