If I told ya you wouldn't believe me! But, seeing as how it IS Friday and all.......... I'm sitting here at work as the offical door greeter and one of the 11-7 nurses called out and of course no one wants to come in so we're left with the situation of "mandating" a nurse to have to stay after already having worked their shift. . . . . oh yeah, you smell what I'm stepping in, dontcha?!

Well, all said and done and I told them I was the last person who got mandated and that it is someone else's turn in the barrel! I ain't missing this for nothing! The last thing I wanna hear is how "No show CJ" made big plans and bagged you again! :lol: Plus, I'd never hear the end of it from Chris (Aroostook) either... by the way, could anyone already at the Inn who is checking this thread please give me Aroostook's room number so I can avoid him? I am, after all, bringing a small child and in the name of paternal safety I wish to safeguard him from the likes of some dork who has this thing for midgets but also has no scruples or intelligence to be able to distinguish between a midget and a short statured human being? If necessary, I will throw Becky (mi esposa) to the wolf in order to spare the youngling!! :huh: :lol:

Will see you guys tomorrow morning, should roll in somewhere between 8 and 8:30.

FWIW I have ridden with Charlie and shared a room for a couple weeks and he is an excellent riding partner and roomie. I would gladly share with him if I didn't already have a roomie lined up.

Ok since the forecast for Sunday is looking pretty shitty my wife and I decided we won't make up to the Fireside Inn tonight. The whole point of us coming up for only one night was to be able to ride with the group on Sunday. It doesn't make for a real fun ride when it is raining most of the ride. I hope the group has a fun ride today and a safe trip home tomorrow.

Sunday: Accuweather is doom and gloom with 100% "Pouring Rain". National Weather Service shows the rain center to be moving causing causing a rain free band to be sweeping up to our area. The movement should keep us dry for the first part of the ride unless something pops up that is not on the map right now.

We are home again safe and sound. After languishing for more than 2 hours over the breakfast buffet, Candy Butt Association applicants Mr & Mrs bluejag (John and Gail) Mr & Mrs bbdig (Jack and Jane) and Mr & Mrs Fred W (Joann and yours truly) made our escape from the Fireside between deluges this morning, even before the hardcore rainiacs headed out for even wetter points to the north and west in the Greens.

We road south through some fairly heavy rain for the 1st half of the ride to Manchester, but then got ahead of the front and the last half was better. The bb's and blue's headed their respective ways from there on dry roads.

I have a feeling that there will be some waterlogged puppies in VT by the end of today.

Very sorry for all of those who traveled so far, but at least the weather held out for Saturday's ride.

I sure hope that you all had a good time in spite of the change in weather.

Friends, hope everyone made it/makes it home safely today or tomorrow. I had a great time with you all, and a great time on the ride. Kudos again, Fred! Thanks for putting all the work into this event (and to tallying the dinner bill last night!)

I bolted this morning at 6:30, and was home for breakfast by 8:15, encountering just a bit of rain shortly after leaving Lebanon, and then most of today at home in Salem.

Saw a Northbound FJR at the intersection of 89 & 93. Wondered if he was headed to join you all for a sporty day! I admire those of you committed to getting out for the Greeens, but had to ride my ride, as we say.

Spoke to Alan about doing Mt. Washington on another day sometime soon, I hope. Will post and let you know in case anyone else wants to go along.

The 'beams finally decided to call it due to rain and headed home late this morning. It was a choice of heavy rain during the ride today followed by heavy rain for the ride home tomorrow or light to moderate rain today and then put the two missed touring days in the bank for better weather. We rode in the rain >90% of the time but arrived home safe and dry. We noticed on our trip home that all the mountain peaks were socked in with fog and clouds, even if we toured the Greens I don't know how much we would have been able to see.

We were falling asleep about half way home so we made a detour to Hancock to confirm that Fiddleheads still makes a good sandwich and cup 'a coffee. We had a great break sitting on the front porch watching the pouring rain while loads of apples, corn and veggies fresh from the field went by in farmer's trucks.

Tough Tom left for the Greens ride with Ed who has to make 50% of the ride anyway just to get home. At the last minute Art and Pete decided to follow Tom's lead around the Greens. Noble Charlie Hoss chose to escort MEM on her way home

After all these years of glorious weather for almost every ride we planned we had our first real washout today. I sure can't complain because we have been truly lucky to this point.

I'm home. A little damp, :Snorkle: but otherwise fine.

Art (RoadRunner), Tom, (snikr), Pete (PMK6V), and I rode the first half of today's planned route (except we skipped the App Gap) up to the lunch stop in Stowe. Steady light rain most of the way with only a few periods of heavier rain. Based on the way the radar map looked this morning, I was expecting a lot worse.

After lunch at Pie-in-the Sky, Tom headed for home and Art, Pete and I took a quick run up through the Notch and back. I peeled off and headed for home as we came back down Rt 100 through Waterbury. Art and Pete were headed back down Rt 89 to the Hotel.

Overall, it was a great weekend of riding and meeting fellow FJR riders. Many thanks to Fred and Tom for organizing this great event once again. :yahoo:

I'll post some of my pictures as soon as I have a chance to get them loaded.

Thanks to all, as Fred had stated we dodged most of the hardcore downpours (truly feel for you LD riders that came in from distant points) Great time thanks to Fred, Tom and all who made this ride so much fun! (EXCEPT MR WEATHERMAN :angry: )

Hey! This afternoon wasn't a total waste!

I spent several hours watering my lawn and drinking martinis. :lol:

Oh yeah, and I got the oil changed in the feejer too!! (yeah, the gin definitely helped)

On a more serious note:

Hoping everyone got home safe and sound, and in (reasonably) good spirits, considering.

Keep an eye out for more NE rides this fall.

Maybe a rain date for Mt Wash? CJ? Ion?

Definitely a Covered Bridges tour in the foliage in early Oct.

It was a great group of people and good times were had.

Joann and I enjoyed all of your company greatly.

We only wish we could have mingled with everyone even more (sure thought we still had today).

The Northbound was me, thinking I could sneak in an hour or two first thing Sunday morning (not going to Lebanon, though). Before I could get to Warner, the skies opened up. Toughed it out thinking it would just be a shower. Gave up at Sutton and wended my way back to the Intervale to pound down cholesterol and fat, before slinking back to Hooksett.

I made it to my brothers just before noon. Will sit it out here tonight and head to VA early in the morning. It was great meeting everyone and seeing others again. At least we had one good day. Thanks Fred!

Hey All. Pulled in a little before 5:00 safe and (mostly) dry although had a can't-believe-it-didn't-go-down moment not 3/4 mile from my house involving heavy rain, standing water, a tight right-hand turning lane and a thick stripe of white paint. Amazing how many thoughts can go through your head in that short a period of time! Anyway, rain let up through Conn. but deluged during the last half hour of the ride. Don't want the focus to be on the one crappy day though. Couldn't ask for a better weather for the ride up and Saturday's ride and stops were memorable. Beautiful country, nice (& fun :exhappysmiley: ) roads, and great company whenever off the bike. Thanks again to those who put in all the effort so the rest of us could just show up and enjoy. Looking forward to riding with you all again soon.

I made it home mostly dry (ya right). I headed I-89 North after lunch and ALMOST saw some SUN as I headed toward Burlington (the road was even DRY for a while). Then the rain kicked back in on RT 116 and it was that way all the way home. And guys, my Joe Rocket jacket is waterproof! And thank you Pete for paying the bill at Pie In The Sky! Hope you guys had a good ride back. Monday doesn't look too bad.
