Hey,

I better jump on the bandwagon too. Sounds like good insurance.

One Escort w/hardwire please.

Bill

I haven't paid for my Wilbers yet!!!
I want one. Maybe it will take a month or two to get this going so my wallet can catch up.
It looks like there are enough players to do this thing now, but I am going to be gone for 2 weeks, so there is enough time for others to consider and for you to save some coin. :D

When I get back, we'll see how things are shaping up and maybe git 'er done then?

I know the discounts are in place, but once we know the total scope of this GB, I will get in touch with Escort to figure out how all the transactions will take place. As smooth as possible is the phrase that comes to my mind.

I bought the x50 after doing a lot of research...

Really enjoyed it until one day BigD jammed on his brakes and I almost ran him down. Seems his V1 picked up the radar a couple of seconds faster than my x50.

Also really wished I could tell which way the signal was coming from (x50 doesn't show direction while V1 does).

Just my opinion and wanted to toss the info out to everyone to consider. The price of the GB sounds good though!

So the Passport X50 red L.E.D. could be shipped to your door for $269.98.
Add the hardwire kit for a total of $279.98
(Pardon the dumb) Question: Is the 'hardwire kit' referenced the same thing as the "direct wire smart cord" mentioned on the Escort website?
Count me in the GB. Coming in under 3 benjii is a good thing...

No, I was describing the direct wire cord, $10.00 retail - P# 79-001059-01

I was just logging in to do a little internet shopping while waiting for the snow to melt here in Sunny Norcal (That's right, snow in Auburn!), and there's a group buy staring me in the face for EXACTLY what I was gonna buy anyway.

Count me in!!!

Pardon my ignorance. I’m in Virginia; I’ve never seen a radar detector. Anyhow, there is enough laser being shot around here to get you vision corrected while you ride. You can’t go 5 minutes without seeing a police cruiser, and there are radars and cameras mounted from many traffic lights. Now you can get a nice picture and speeding ticket in the mail! They just don’t play fair. On top of that, you will go to jail if you get caught over 85. I think I'd rather get the fine for owning a detector. Does X50 need to be out in plain view? Is there a way to conceal it, and can you turn it off fast? Will Escort ship to VA? How many batteries does the H.A.R.D system require?

That's because they're illegal, Bigtime! If you get caught with one, you'll make a trade with the officer. He will hand you a BIG ticket and you'll hand over the detector. I used to Long Haul on the East coast and Virginia does not screw around with speeders. You would have a better chance at bringing in Cuban cigars, than not getting caught with a detector. You even said yourself, " that there is enough laser being shot around and there are radars and cameras mounted from many traffic lights". However, if you travel outside the state, then it's a little different story.

Is there a way to conceal it and can you turn it off fast?
Not really. When you've been zapped they gotcha, you're toast. If they even spot a detector they'll pull you over.

How many batteries does the H.A.R.D system require?
No batteries. No modifications.

If decide to get a detector you may want to get some Veil Coating to go with it. Just my .02 worth. :cigar:

1. No. I've heard of guys hiding them behind the plastic fairing, but not sure how well they work or if it will still detect laser that way.

4. It requires two 2032 lithium coin cells for the receiver, available in bulk here.

Plucked from Escort:

Should I be concerned about radar detector detectors?

U.S. non-commercial drivers should not be concerned at all unless you drive in Virginia or Washington DC. If you do drive in either of those places, are a commercial driver, or drive in Canada, please note that while all of our current detector models are immune to the VG-2 radar detector detector (RDD), our radar detectors can be detected by a newer RDD named Spectre.

Fabone,

Thanks for the advice. I guess if I'm going to use a detector it's going to have to be a model which uses a remote eye and the unit is concealed. Crap, from everything I've read the X50 is the best! Whistler makes a concealed motorcycle unit which doubles as a volt meter and temp guage but, unforunately they printed "whistler" across the face of the display.

So you'll need an RDDD? Reminds me of a Bugs Bunny episode. Someday they'll just put a chip in our head and we'll stroke out if we have an unauthorized thought.
