It's very nice. However there's alot of development going on. New homes, wineries and even a Wal-mart. But it's not doing real well. I'm leaving Friday to visit my sister in Pt. Townsend, going over White Pass and then up 101 along Hoods Canal. Should be a great trip. Where did you live when you were here?

I was born and raised in Issaquah, back when it was just a small town with no traffic lights. My my how things have changed. Interesting you should mention the hood canal, that was the one place my family went every summer. Many fond memories of eating oysters off the beach at Alderbrook Inn. back in those days there were only cabins, no lodge. I still think there might be a place for me there in WA

it's each rider's job to evaluate what happens to themselves (and others) to learn from past mistakes to avoid them in the future. a conscientious rider does this when other people wreck, too. it's the way to survive for the long haul in the world of riding. to evaluate each report, riders ask a lot of specific questions that are sometimes seen as "harsh" by others. it's the only way to pry accuracy from the typical vague comment about a mishap. car drivers seldom do this which is why most riders see drivers as rolling machines of death; destined to continually repeat the same mistakes over and over again.

after reading this thread (and setting aside the wise ass comments) you now have a bar set that shows you what you need to do to become your own worst critic. it's a hard thing to tackle right after an accident but it truly is the best way to learn and avoid repeats. and i'm in agreement with those who reclassify this as a drop and not "layin' it down" as current usage implies.

my daughter thought i was being exceedingly heartless after her car wreck and it took months to slowly pry all the actual details out of her. under inflated tires, following too closely, a spare tire in the road, and the lead car swerving around it all lead to an emergency swerve that caused one of her tires to roll off the rim and sent her into multiple 360s and across the median into oncoming traffic. yet it was years before i could convince her to stop tail gating other cars and one corrective action she should take. why? because the evaluation and critique process seemed "unkind" from her point of view. as a result she shut down and refused to discuss it with anyone.

how much better for her to be the leading lump-giver (to herself) while being open to discussions and suggestions; setting aside touchy-feely trivialities?

focus on laying open the bare truth of the situation. place a microscope on the actions and results. be self-critical and willing to at least entertain options. evaluate those options for integration into daily driving habits. mitigate future risk through a life of learning.

Always a place for ya. And some great ridin. If it's a mild winter here I ride. No ice or snow, I'm on the bike.

I also "had to lay it down" many years ago and thought it was right to do. I now know that if I had known more about braking, it wasn't the right thing. I'm not judging since wasn't there, but there is an article in one of the recent MCN about braking. It specifically says that metal and plastic doesn't slow a bike better than rubber. Still I hate it that you laid it down and hope damage to you and the bike was minimal.

I'm wondering ...when riding a bike the rider is out in the open, if they do something stupid, they most likely will get called on it.

Someone drives a car, they're "protected" by the car.... and the way we teach people how to drive....(not very well)

Ever notice the worst drivers are the ones that totally refuse to listen to any suggestions on how to improve their driving?

Example... my roommate keeps running off the curb when backing uout of her driveway. Her friend keeps telling her to go back just about a foot more...nope, won't hurt the truck at all, so every time she bounces off the curb. She also uses the tires as curb feelers... uh huh.... that's why the valve stems on her tires keep breaking off....

Most, but not all bikers,...hmmm...ok...many more bikers than drivers are at least willing to learn or listen about better techniques, etc. But then we do have people trying to run us over...

Oh well...

That is the best way to stay clean here. If you post something though provoking on this site most of the puerile brains here will make fun of it.

I bet 99% of the guys who didn't like your decision wouldn't have been able to make any decision. They would have just crapped their leathers and hit the other bike, and then they would have posted a message about how some #%))#)#%) kids on a sport bike ran them down. They would still be crying to everyone about how the other bike wrecked their bike.

You saved both bikes and riders! Be very proud of that!

Actions speak louder than macho posts from phantom posters with dirty leathers!
