Guess what was my this year's home improvement investment?

Yep, its seating improvement.

I did have (and still have) a heavy urge to buy the new 2016 FJR, but the offer for trade in of my current 2008 AS meant I should pay some 14 k € extra to get the same version (automatic clutch) with electronic suspension. Now that I have only 41 k miles on my present machine and it is in mint technical condition I decided to invest 1,2 k€ instead and upgrade the shock. Well, I've got another problem now, the front end suddenly feels somewhat lose. Looks like some more home improvement coming next year.

And then this small, but very useful improvement- less buzz to the feet.

Looking forward to my next fully loaded 2-up trip.

Couple of nice additions, Enn! Much less expensive than a new FJR and it'll make the old one feel new again.

Enjoy the ride!

Thanks for feedback, guys.

How much and often do you adjust it? I guess the preload is the main thing to dial while loading up the bike? How many turns do you normally do if you load your saddlebags and top box full and occasionally add the pillon?

I have to admit that mostly I felt the OEM weakness when fully loaded and that's why I upgraded. While I was riding alone I was pretty happy with the original shock.

Wise investment! Ohlins shock is one of the best! I have one on my suzuki Bandit 1250 and it completely brings the bike to a new level of performance. Once you dial into the sweet spot of pre-load adjustment, the rebound and compression clicks are easy to do.

Home improvement my wife's version:

Call Bob and see if he want's to go riding, you need an attitude adjustment.

Bob's bike is apart getting all the suspension stuff I need on my bike.

Go ahead and get it. It's $2300. Microsecond pause,I'm getting a floor.

I got it soon after.

For us it worked like this.

Me in January: I need a new bike (13 grand),

February: I need a new bike,

March: I need a new bike

April: I need a new bike

May: OK, I could compromise on Öhlins for 1,2 g

Wife: alright, alright, just leave me alone

It always works !

Married thirtyfive years.

New bikes get the color brochure on the refrigerator.

Three day delay, then what's that going to cost?

Go ahead and get it! Four bikes that way.

Just got a 2016 KTM 500 EXC to play in the dirt.

New boots, riding suit. Then skid plate, disc guards,

and new rear under fender and plate mount with flush mount turn signals.

Last new bike was the 06 FJR.
