Two people were in critical condition Tuesday night after the Harley-Davidson™ motorcycle they were riding crashed near the Roy Y on Highway 7, a Washington State Patrol spokesman said.
Witnesses said they spotted a 2006 Harley-Davidson™ weaving in and out of traffic and driving fast on southbound Highway 7 about 6:50 p.m. before its driver, a 46-year-old man, lost control of the motorcycle near the Roy Y, said Trooper J.J. Gundermann. The motorcycle hit a guardrail, throwing its passenger, a 41-year-old woman, more than 80 feet, he said.
Medics took the man to Tacoma General Hospital and the woman to Madigan Army Medical Center. Investigators believe alcohol and excessive speed were factors in the crash, he said.
