That bridge landed a mile down stream in a heap of rubble. The abutment washed out on one side and the bridge floated down stream.

Anyone heard from Geezer? Not online since night before Irene. Big flooding in the towns each side of him.

We got our power back around lunchtime yesterday. After 4 days of darkness, felt like a caveman discovering fire when I flicked on the light switch. :D At least I got a clean refrigerator out of the deal... <_<

Got our power back last night, almost exactly three days without power. We had the tubs filled with water to use to flush the toilets. Took two truckloads of debris to the dump yesterday. Next project - move the well circuit to the panel fed by the generator.

My area got hit pretty hard, but no damage to my place. I am still without power and was able to borrow a generator today from my daughter because their power finally came on last night. So I can finally get on the internet. I didn't know I'd miss it so much. We had some rain and wind in my valley, but not enough to cause any damage. The damage came later when the water ran down from the north and west and overflowed all of the waterways.

Most of the good riding roads in the Catskills are blocked due to bridges out. You can get to most places, but there are long detours to get around. Route 28, which is a major 2 lane state road, has one bridge that is down to 1 lane, and another place where one lane is now in the creek. And that's just the section of 28 between Kingston and Phoenicia. Further west is much worse. Most of the roads are restricted to local traffic only.

This is good intel. We usually ride down through there on our way to points south (read EOM) so I'll have to come up with an alternate route.

I'm sure that it won't be as much fun. :glare:

Hurricane??? What hurricane? Sorry you guys up in the N.E. got whacked, but hurricane sympathy is in pretty short supply here in the "Land of Flying Weathermen."

Read the associated story HERE.

BTW, the arrow in the picture is pointing RIGHT at my house! And all 3 hurricanes tracked on that map hit us in a 3 week period!
