I'm just waiting to see what damage it does here in Vermont. Good thing the NERDS ride wasn't this weekend.

Tom

We should be getitng a bit of rain and wind inland tomorrow morning. The coast will likely get beat up pretty good, but nothing they're not used to.

It's headed right for me, 10-12 inches of rain and 100 mph wind  expected to hit early Sunday morning. The Governer just issued the hold onto your *** statement.

By early morning, I will be able to put on my ride gear, roll the FJR into the driveway and do triple digits without so much as turning the key.

:(

My oldest daughter and son in law live in Swansboro, NC. One mile from the coast. They aren't planning on evacuating. I just told her she had better get the hell out of there.

We're expecting a little wind and a lot of rain here. I'll keep the canoe handy just in case.

I do have a couple of very tall pine trees that I have been thinking about taking down. Maybe Irene will save me the trouble. :)

Looks like our EOM roads will be safe from this one. Hoping no trees lands on my garage.

Maybe I should ride to EOM now just to be safe!

we are about 175 mi. to the beach and we need rain none in the forecast just some wind. guess i will go for a ride.

+1 with that bill, I have 2 over 70 foot huge pines about 30 feet from the house and garage. By my calculations the wind will be pushing them right towards us. I am expecting some good 70 mile an hour gust for sure. This isn't going to be good. I had a tree take out my power lines a couple of years ago. I fully expect it to happen again. Stocking up on Beer tomorrow to enjoy the festivities.

:drinks:

Iffen ya don't here from me in a few days you know why.

Now where's that damn bottle opener! :D

Work at an airport and the Control tower will evacuate at a 60 mph wind (Airport closed) ,we are ready Nuff said
Is that because planes can't land in 60 mph winds? I know that the present codes call for structures to be designed for 90mph winds minimum and seismic loads as well, which usually govern over the 90mph wind loads. Along the coastline in Florida, higher wind speeds are used for design, over 100mph in some cases.

I live on the Massachusetts coast. We're expecting and preparing for a good long wet sustained blow tomorrow. Boating season is ending early for many this year- the boat yards have been busy hauling out vessels the last few days.

I hope that the TV weather alarmists (ahem, forecasters) are over exaggerating a little. They are saying 6-10 inches of rain are expected in much of Massachusetts. With an onshore wind, storm surge and that kind of sustained rainfall we will certainly have a lot of flooded basements and such.

Hope everyone in Irene's path comes out OK this weekend.

Status update, please, for youse guys in NC and VA....... y'all holding up okay this morning?
