I can see Don buying wing farkles now. He will end up with more chrome than mine and don't forget the cup holders. I've got the 34oz Butlers. Then he will dark side it.
Gorgeous George I'd thought about buying a Hondoo Lead Wing, but since my Parents were married when I was born: The Honda Corp. wouldn't sell one to me!Hmmm...after all the build-up I thought you were buying a 'Wing!

Congrats Don!!!

No. No self folding sidestand or self opening side cases on the '94.Is this BMW the model with the self folding side stand while the bike was parked and the open for no reason while you are moving side cases?
The '94 was the first year of the oil head, so it was also the first year for the fuel injection. These bikes DO have surging issues in stock trim, but that is readily fixed with the Techlusion FI box (like a power commander) and a good TBS with a TwinMax vacuum gauge. My guess is that the PO will have already addressed these issues in 50k miles of prior life.Beyond that it is a '94 if I am not mistaken this was long before the boxer experienced surging issues or the final drive would leak oil like a pre 1978 Triumph.
Freddie Bear definitely knows his Beemers, Fontanaman his answers are right on! My 1996 BMW R1100GS didn't surge, but many of the Type 259 Oilheads did. JSNS!Congrats, Papa. That is a nice looking survivor. I also had a '94 R1100RS; mine was red. It was a heck of a nice bike with plenty of BMW boxer character, but not quite so agricultural as those earlier air heads. You could actually enjoy a spirited ride on one of these.

I do think that this was prior to the self destructing final drives, but in any case the R1100 engine was not exactly a "high power" engine, so the strain on that FD is not very extreme.
I know a Retired ******* in Chandler that has some bucks and plenty of free time those retired ******** have on their hands.
Don, have you ever split the case on one of these?
Maybe we can do a deal here . . .
Come on now Wheatie you are talking to an Old Guy that still wants to "do" Cher again and make it an even once, even if it is underwhelming I still want to "do" Cher twice and take her to Brunch! jes' sayin' and nuff said, HUBBA-HUBBA!Have any of you ever bought your dream bike from yesteryear and been underwhelmed?
I didn't like my CB550 because it was underpowered, same thing with the XS850.
However I loved my XS Eleven. I am wondering if I would get on one today and be totally underwhelmed because of the flimsy handling and motor that today's motors surpass.
If you make allowances for the spindly double-cradle frame, the XS1100 can still produce smiles. I did my SS1000 on a 1977 XS750.Have any of you ever bought your dream bike from yesteryear and been underwhelmed?

Haven't done it, but I don't have any illusions that the '75 Z1 or '78 GS1000EC would seem anything but underpowered, wallowing and slow to stop . . . now that I've been so spoiled by modern MC technologies. I still think that having current restorations of those two would make for pretty spectacular trips down nostalgia lane, though.Have any of you ever bought your dream bike from yesteryear and been underwhelmed?I didn't like my CB550 because it was underpowered, same thing with the XS850.However I loved my XS Eleven. I think it mostly depends on what you expect out of the old bike. If you want it to do everything that your FJR does for you now, then there is no way. But if you just want to go out on an occasional day ride and stir up some nostalgic feelings, then yeah it will probably be fun.Have any of you ever bought your dream bike from yesteryear and been underwhelmed?

Why.... have gone to one of concerts several years ago, she will spend the 90% in the bathroom changing and she comes out she will lip sync while looking totally bored.....Come on now Wheatie you are talking to an Old Guy that still wants to "do" Cher again and make it an even once, even if it is underwhelming I still want to "do" Cher twice and take her to Brunch! jes' sayin' and nuff said, HUBBA-HUBBA!Have any of you ever bought your dream bike from yesteryear and been underwhelmed?

Don's motto is "nine to ninety blind, crippled or crazy"Cher is not hubba hubba she is downright scary. The relatively fridged weather in Chandler must be affecting Don.
Thank you Raymond for explaining the OBVIOUS to Roy and Jim, it also helps if they have false teeth and an Uncle that owns a liquor store! You know, I am Irish!Don's motto is "nine to ninety blind, crippled or crazy"Cher is not hubba hubba she is downright scary. The relatively fridged weather in Chandler must be affecting Don.
