As with many Gen 1's the glove box latch fails. I glue magnets on lid and box- works great. There is a thread about it on the forum, just do a search.

I'm packed and loaded for my first long weekend on the FJR. Planning about 1500 miles in the Ozark Mountains. Each saddlebag weighs exactly 20 pounds loaded. I don't suppose that is too heavy? The dream and my passion are still very much alive. :yahoo:

I'm glad to see you haven't given up on your passion of riding motorcycles. Nice job on putting her all back together. Have a safe and fun trip.

Just returned home safely this afternoon. Ended up being about 1600 miles - I would highly reccommend the entire NW section of Arkansas for some fantastic twisty riding. The roads are predictible, the road surface for all of the roads is perfect, and the tree line is about 75 feet from the road, which gives great visibility around the curves. Had a great weekend and I am really enjoying the FJR.

1. Gary tells me that some of you choose to remove the rectangular red reflectors on the saddle bags. I need a left one - does anybody have one that they would be willing to part with?
What a coincidence. 08FJR4ME needs a left one, too

;)

Bumpsie....

I was doing a FJR forum search for something and this thread came up as a result of that search. I took a second and reminised about my off, and my choice.

Here I am 16 months and almost 24,000 miles after the crash. I have had adventures beyond my wildest dreams on the bike. Some 50 miles, others 2500 miles, but all extremely enjoyable.

I guess time heals just about everything. Life it too short. Buy a motorcycle and go get you some...

Well as your entry came up on the new list, I dove in and read the thread.

I'm very glad not much did happen to you, after all, we've just got that one life.

Your thoughts then been right on, you showed respect to the matter. Yet riding a bike is a piece of freedom, we don't get elsewhere. I had my fair share on incidents, from dropping brand new bikes to almost... You know what. But what a bike gIves me, it's worth to go for the risk, as long as you don't loose respect for the matter, I'm glad I haven't and following your happily ever after report shows me you neither.... Keep on riding and enjoying your FeeJay.
