as someone that could loose a few pounds, I'd like to know how those of you who did drop 10-40 pounds, how did you do it?
I decided last October to join a gym and get my weight under control. I go to the gym 4 times a week, ride my bicycle when I can and watch what I eat (less french frys and more salad). So far I've lost over 60 lbs. My goal is to lose 100 lbs. by this October.

Just yesterday I rode my bicycle to work, 25 miles round trip. I wouldn't have dreamed of doing that 7 months ago!

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: I hate to brag but I'm pretty proud of myself. I met my goal of 100 pounds by October (1 year). :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: I'd still like to lose another 20-30 lbs. Unfortunately, the FJR is so much faster now I got my first performance award yesterday...84mph in a 65mph zone.

Changing eating habits: 1 - Strong desire 2 - No cheating 3 - Old fashioned Oatmeal(not Quick oats)/¾ cup of oak.,1½ cup of water.(add different stuff /seasonings two coffee spoones of butter, stay away from adding sweets)for breakfast. 4 - The rest of my meals are frozen veges. mixed with brown rice(2 cups of rice w/4 cups of water, makes 8 cups of rice);half and half the veges. and rice(total one normal bowl of food, good for a few days),one two times a day.mix up the rice and vegs.,put some liquid in(water/soy/seasonings/etc.),stick in the mic. till veges. are where you want them(taste, stir). 5 - I do ½ hour on rowing machine 5 days a week.

The thing I like about it is it's easy,and doesn't take long,or a lot of cooking skill,and it's real cheap(more Farcals).

You can loose 5/10 lbs. a month.

Congrats!I really need to start takin better care of myself.

But it's a hard habit to start...
Thanks! It was hard for me to get going...but now it's just a habit.
The habit of doing what's right is what has side tracked me. I have put a few of the 20 back on and I can't seem to get back to what works to be healthier and lose weight. I'll keep trying.

I'm down 60 lbs since January. I am 5'11", and I started at 263 and I'm down around 202 right now. I've cranked up my mountain biking intensity and started running. When I started I could only run for a minute or two at a time on a treadmill. Now I'm running 4 miles at a stretch. Saturday(Oct 11) I'm running in the Race for the Cure 5K here in Birmingham. I couldn't spend enough in mountain bike or FJR farkles to get that kind of performance gain :) . I can actually ride w/ the rear shock on the soft setting now :)

My method has been eat less and excercise more, no specific diet, but i do use www.thedailyplate.com to track calories eaten/burned...

My goal now is to get my stomach completely flat, so maybe another 15-20 lbs, maybe less...

I came over to Afghanistan.... The food sucks and I've got nothing better to do than go to the gym. I'm down 55pounds since last november. My weight loss has stalled since I injured my knee a couple weeks ago and had to lay off the cardio, but, atleast I'm not gaining.

Great job! I followed the same formula...no specific diet just eating healthier and counting calories. I go to the gym 4x a week and I also bicycle a lot. I'm 5'9" and weighed 296 last October and now I'm at 196. I think I'll stop at 175-180. We'll see when I get there.

Lost 20lbs from back injury and pneumonia. Exercise took off another 5 lbs that I have since put back on. Not overweight, but mostly I want to harden the old soft stomach.

Fencer say's it's so I can carry the big ass tool bag and cooler in my saddle bags.
