Yes, I have had to set mine down 2 times since getting her last week of March.

First time my son was with me so we just picked her up together, second time by myself in work parking lot, jumped her off center stand, kinda leaning to the right so foot slipped in the grass on the side of the lot and down she went. I picked it up myself, use your legs and just push her back up.
Thanks for that BlueDevil, I guess I'll forget the idea of carrying a come-along in the saddle-bag ;)

How about picking one up when the ***** who drops it has a belly full of unhealed hernias, bad knees, bad hips and a bad back.

Christ, I hate getting old.

Carry a floor jack in your saddlebag..........LOL

total cost was under 700 bucks . i ask the guy who was doing the accident write up (he is also the service guy at the shop i purchased the bike ) aim very high i have a 500 dollar deductible. he wrote up all the parts as retail and some crazy *** price for labor . oh yea i purchased the parts from univeristy motors for less then half the cost .
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm............Admitting fraud out here in the open, not too smart.

Anyway, it's none of my business, but this is another reason why I pay $900 a year to insure my FJR.

this is not fraud . any dealer can quote prices . the prices that were quoted were retail . and the shop can charge what they think it takes to do the job. its up to the insurance co. to check out whats whats . it is for me to decide where to spend the money the insurance co.sends me . example if you called in your claim and the insurance co. send you 2000 grand and you looked around and saw you can fix the bike for 800 what would you do ? send them back 1200 bucks ?

Man do I hear you, I'm 59 and holding, with all the aches and old wounds to prove it

On the subject of this thread, in a canoe, the higher you are, the tippier the canoe. At low speed, I also find the FJR "tippier" than older custom cruisers I rode before, especially my last V-twin Shadow.

Of course this is because both the seat and the center of gravity (of ride and rider together) are considerably higher. So, this beeing my breakin period, I'm veeeeeery careful between 0-3 Mph.

I've never done this berfore.

Anytime one of my cars has been hit, I bring it to a shop that AAA (my insurance co) recognizes and that does work, and they work out the financials.

I've never had an insurance company just write me a check and say do whatever you want with the money, oh, and even prior to getting that check go wherever you want and get a quote as high as you want.

I live in California, and perhaps things are done a little different depending on region and insurance company.

The system has to change SOMEWHERE, and if you know the parts are XXX and you get a check for XXXX you're saying it's ok to keep the extra cash?

Somebody somewhere ends up having to pay to make up the difference that went into your pocket.

Is that an unreasonable determination of the facts?

Just so you know, the way ladies are taught to lift a heavy bike is;

Put your back to the fallen bike and squat.

Grab a strong point and use your legs to lift the bike.

I'm not calling you old men ladies. Just a technique.

Hey, I'm not too proud, I'll squat like a lady if that's what it takes :haha:

Good advice, no offence taken.

 Yeah, last time I checked I was a dude but I had to use the Ladies method last Saturday. Thats the only way I could get it upright.

Bike on it's left side and a downward slope, squated with my back to the bike, right hand on the handlebar, left hand on the passenger grab rail and then lift with the legs....not too bad. Just be sure to use the legs and not the back.

Kinky!... Funny, I can't get it upright without a hand from a lady either... (groan, sorry, couldn't resist) :D

if there is a next time which i hope there is not for you or anyone riding a bike try calling your insurance co. thats what you pay insurance for. as for the cash i recived from the insurance co . i will type it again they sent ME the money i can spend it where i can get the best deal .if the insurance co . does not want to do the footwork i cant do it for them . so maybe that is why premiums are high to some of us . the cash is not in my pocket i put it out there to boost the u.s. economy . wildbills footpegs , ceebailys sheild, 6 degrees risers, r and g sliders, knight guard, 1 set of pilot road tires, i gallon rotells sny. oil , 1 purolater oil filter . dinner with my wife .

Mine sunk in the hot asphalt here in Phoenix. I went in she was parked in the shade when I came out it was on the ground and sunny. Didn't look like any damage.

When I was picking her up, I couldn't hold her and dropped her and then did some damage, nothing that needs fixing, just a few minor scratches and one real bad engine rash mark and the left mirror has some signs of rash.

I had a tip over on concrete, Had the motovations installed. Slight scratch on left mirror but it loosened the mount. Scratched the alternator cover. Scratched the bag. No damage to exhaust. No fairing damage. Slight scuff on end of motovation bung.

Pain in the ***, pissed me off. Dumb. Could easily have been avoided if I had my head out in the daylight not where it does'nt shine!
