I'm talking about a stock Harley RK. Standard, current day 88 with FI. It ain't gonna top 115 on the flat. No ******* way. Put a Stage 1 with a K & N, freer flowing pipes (I had V & H) and you might see 120 on a good day. ;)

odot - how long a skid mark did you leave on the road?!

I was rolling down I-64 in Indiana Saturday at about 90 and I noticed a bike comming up behind me. When he got beside me I looked over and it was a County Sheriff on a HD.
this intrests me. Where abouts were you?

I live in St. Louis, MO and was on my way to www.sporttour.com in Cincinnati to exchange my Givi 46 for a Givi 52. I didn't mean to start anything here, I just thought that it was funny from my perspective when I saw a bike catching up to me on the interstate when I was rolling an indicated 90. I looked over to wave and about sh#t my pants when I saw that it was a cop! I am pretty good at spotting the cars but have not seen many motor officers rolling down the interstates. He was a cool cop as he just smiled and waved hello to me. He was definetly going someplace in a hurry and was out of my sight in a short amount of time.

I don't remember the exact location but we were somewhere West of Louisville, KY in Southern Indiana on I-64

Does mean play time :argue: for the HD guys is over?....Damn, I always seem to miss the fun stuff :cray: ......

I doubt it is over yet. Just thinking of ways to beat the dead horse a little more. By the time its done I should have my Trail 90 doing at least 80.

Hey Pickax,

Sorry to you if you thought I was wadded on the issue.. I ain't. I just have had a lot of HD experience with those specific models... I do know that the New 103's(screaming eagle) are hopped up better BUT the 88's wouldn't do no 125(even if it had a true stage III)..

I rode a 2003 Anniversary Edition Harley-Davidson® LKJFHLIUHBUYG Bagger in 2003 on a trip through Utah. I am not sure as to the exact model but it was the touring style with the fairing mounted to the handlebars. 100mph on the Harley-Davidson® in that configuration is a trip you will not soon forget. The slightest crosswind really plays hell with the handling as it pulls the bars to the side. The frame exhibited a tendency to flex in the corners giving the bike a very uncomfortable “wallow” around the apex. Not sure it could/I would want to be on it at anything over 100mph unless it were on the straight away.

On the straight slab it was a rather compliant ride. It’s kind of like riding in an early seventies Buick LeSabre. Bike was surprisingly small. I would say it is about 7/8ths the size of my ’89 Venture Royale. A passenger can read a book while sitting on the back of my VR. Her breasts would be planted solidly against my back on the Harley-Davidson®. Maybe that’s part of the appeal. ;)

hey WW,

both of my harleys are stage five 95" twin cams. one has smaller cams then the other, so it only puts out 100hp, 100ft tq. the bigger cam bike puts out 112hp, 120ft tq. i've been working on harleys for 30yrs, and was a service manager for 5. i DON'T care what you think or have to say about them. harleys do, and will run in the triple digits, and not have the handling problems you think they do. i've got 65k miles on my FLHT, and ride it cross country. did you ever think that the bikes have rev limiters?? the bikes will not rev over 5500rpm, thus topping out around 105mph stock. i've already beat gsx1100's, with my FXD.

for a guy that has owned so many harleys, and has nothing good to say about them, i'm sure you will find lots of things to complain about with the FJR.

let me go on the record now by saying the FJR is one of the best bikes i've ever riddin, and is in a different league from the all harleys.

just keeping it real,

joe

yea it was funny to see the look on the face of the gsx owner, when i just spanked him with my little ol' harley :clapping:
So what is done to that "little ol' harley" that has it doing tens in a 1/4 mile? Seems to me that was not too far off what a '96 GSXR 1100 would do with a pipe, tied down front end, a competent rider and not a lot more. Or was the Gixxer in question beat and broken with a clown aboard?

I do know a guy who cruises at 135 on a HD bagger pulling a trailer!.............. But his hobby is turboing HD's and Buells.

any of you fellas want to race for pinks against my 130k 1991 flhtcu?

.... because I don't...

but if you want to compare the chick appeal.. then ALL bets are on! :yahoo:

...you non harley folks just don't get it.. :glare:

......sometimes it ain't the need for speed... it's the need for .....

*Snicker*

. . . and there you Harley guys go confusing image with performance again.

I don't think anyone here is arguing that a Harley isn't the king of the hill when it comes to duping susceptible maidens, whether skanky or even some that definitely ain't. Pretty much always has been that way . . . for mysterious and illogical reasons, as far as I can tell, but then, I don't pretend to understand the fairer ***, either.

That's just not why I ride, though, nor why I ride what I ride. Now . . . as to all of us UJM riders that "don't get it" . . .

THAT just ain't so. ;)

Hey DCArver....

I agree completely with your statement.. The Hogs aren't for the speed appeal....but they do have appeal.

People that try to braggard how fast thier HD's go are FOOLS....and don't really know what fast is...

Hey Joe..

I agree with you on the FJR being a great bike....

BUT A SPADE IS A SPADE AND A HOG AIN'T FAST...

100 hp and 100 lbs isn't a lot of power for a bIG HEAVY BIKE......GET REAL...........

NOW IT IS FASTER THAN THE AVERAGE 800+LBS 70HP HOG BUT mOST RIDERS ON THIS FORUM AIN'T GONNA BUY YOUR ******** STORY ABOUT SMOKIN NO GSXR(even a older 1100).

If you ran a gsxr and beat um..that rider was either a squid, ****** or not giving you the time of day.

You should save those tales for the HD forum.

100 hp on a 360lbs(dry) bike is a pretty fast bike(will smoke your hog..this is the average numbers on todays 600cc rockets..and pretty close performance numbers to our FJR's....though our FJR's have them beat on low end grunt).

Now faster is 166hp on a 385lbs(dry) bike(this is the hp at the tire on the 06 zx10r). Now that is a FASTBIKE!!

So braggard about all the MILF's you pick up BUT save the performace talk for the folks that can back it up!!
