I Wish I Could Take/Edit Videos Like This!

Well I added up the total cost of the four camera's that shot it and it was around $10k. Add in a helicopter rental, crew, edit time and other incidentals and I'm guessing the money tight mortals amongst us never will.

Sorry guys, credits say "Hover Cameras" which are drone-based. Website has a pretty cool 2:00 highlight reel featuring a line of motorcycles at 1:05 ..... (from last year's Reuben Run?)

I'm wondering if they got permits to close the highway, or whether they found buddies that would have "car trouble" for 30 minutes at each end of their road course.

That Hollywood feel is done in editing. I've seen a few gropro videos done like this. That editing is very time consuming, and requires a bit of talent. Speaking of talent, determining all the shots this small video has, and making it happen, takes talent. I'm an admirer.

The guy has definite editing skills. also liked his Angel's Landing Video. I've been there and done that and I don't know how he got that much footage together with no people in the shots.

I would love to be able to edit our home/riding movies in a more 'Hollywood' style.

This. If you've ever sat down with enough GoPro footage to make a quality 2:00 video, then you know how much time you spend watching video over and over and how much gets trimmed and how much of a pain in the rear it is to put something like this together. The bike, the riding, the shooting, all fantastic, but it's the editing that makes it and usually isn't what people think of. I have a couple of friends who went to school for editing and more power to them, I couldn't do it.

Editing is everything. At the academy awards, the people who win for best editing are the people who make the movie what it is. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of raw footage and most of it winds up on the cutting room floor. It's a lot of work. Hats off to them.

I use Sony Vegas Pro for my Go Pro editing and it can do a LOT more than I'm currently capable of understanding. I'm learning more every time I use it. And Gixxer is right. It takes more time than I currently have, being a working stiff, to have the time to go through all my video footage & effectively edit. Some day retirement will come and I can play with it more but for now I enjoy playing with it when I can.

I'm where you're at, except using PowerDirector, and can put a video together. However, that's about it. I don't know how to enhance video, so that it'll look cohesive throughout. Probably the biggest thing I need is patience.

It's one thing to take hours of video, yet another to cut it down under 5 minutes and have it interesting. I try and not look at it emotionally, or I'll end up with a 5 hour video, and it helps with editing. Still, not an easy thing to do.

No it's not, Rob. But!.... That Key West video was damn good. I know because I was there watching you record the whole thing and I saw the finished product. Trust me!... It was excellent including the soundtrack.

I'm in the 30 day period of free finalcutprox and working at it.. but jeesh... a very steep learning curve.

Nine years ago I put forth the effort to make this video of me and my buddies playing around at a track day. I spent the day moving the camera around the bike, chasing and being chased by my friends. Then the time spent to sit down and go through an entire day's worth of video to find any gems that were in there was an event all it's own. Then sitting down and importing, cutting, moving around and doing nothing spectacular. I wish I'd have kept track of the hours spent to come out with a 4 minute video.



As such, pretty much all of my videos since then have been kept super simple. I've sat down and put forth effort on as many videos as I can count on one hand, and none of them involved a full day of film. Sitting down and cutting up your own film will certainly give you an appreciation behind what goes on in some of the amazing videos you see posted.

Jasen, very nice! I, for one, can appreciate editing with music. I prefer music over wind noise myself, though trying to time the music track to the video track can, will be a daunting task.

Yea, we'll see how long till YT yanks it or mutes it. I had that one uploaded before, but apparently I can't use Satch on my videos even though he rocks. I didn't even try to match the music though, but it worked out in a couple of places. That takes even more skill and time. Ugh. I hope people who do that get paid well for it.
