If there was one album, to make everyone here listen to, what would it be?

Judas Priest

"Rocka Rolla"

"Sad Wings of Destiny"

"Stained Class"

Pick any one of these for solid music! Sad Wings of Destiny is my personal favorite.

Great topic for a thread. For me, good music running through good ear buds that are well sealed in my ear greatly enhances the riding experience for me. I've probably got about 2000 songs on my phone right now. My taste are pretty varied, as I'll listen to just about anything. I've got everything from Abba to ZZ Top, but I guess overall I prefer classic rock. I always "shuffle all" while I'm riding, and especially when I'm spending a penance day on the slab heading to or from an adventure, the anticipation of the next song sometimes passes the time for me.

On the other hand, when I'm in the mountain twisties, I rarely listen to music, opting for ear plugs that drown the wind noise, but allow me to hear the beast singing as I get on and off the throttle. Up there, I prefer the timeless musical group "FJR and the inline 4's".

Back in October, it's about 7:30 am. The sun's coming up, but the air is just a smidge cooler. I'm geared up with my ear buds in. The bikes' purring like a panther with steam puffing out of her pipes. Just before I put my right glove on, I hit the "shuffle all" button on the touch screen. Then this song comes on:

I drop her in gear listening to the intro as I taxi out of the neighborhood. I check left and right at the road, and as soon as Gerry starts singing, I run her up the gears, shifting on memory at around 5K. The big red ball is just over the horizon to my left and rising.

It was spiritual, man.

I woke up this morning with this tune playing in my head. Grabbed a cup of go juice and checked emails, saw notification to this thread and BOOM! There's your post. Sipped my coffee, listened to the tune, read your prose and drifted to a better place for a few minutes. Pants, do I know you? Seems like I should. Thanks, brother!

Chief - we never met, but we know each other well. All of us do, we're cut from the same cloth. The quilt of adventure.....

Damn it - I wish I was riding today.

More than just one all time great album, but I think one that deserves to be on any list is Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush". Spent many, many hours listening to that album with friends. I think it was released just after the movie "Woodstock".

Ever read any of Neil Peart's books? Great stories from a true, passionate touring motorcyclist.
Yes. Yes, I have. I think they are awesome books.

I took a "clear my head" ride on Sunday afternoon by myself. Wasn't looking for curves, I was searching for solitude. So I headed South for the coastal prairie and marshland. The rest of the world was more interested in football and over indulgence of carbs and spirits. I had Hwy 82 all to myself. Well .... just me and the thousands of migratory birds enjoying their bountiful winter home.

I'm holding the big girl back - top gear rolling double nickels, give or take. She's purring contently without a care in the world, and I know that if I need it, there's at least another hundred horsepower available at the twist of the wrist. But this ain't that kind of ride. No, today we are enamored in the environment. Today, the bike is just a tool - the syringe for the medication that I need.

At the perfect time, this song popped up.

Life is good. Stay thirsty, my friends.....
