If Wheaton really goes for good that will suck donkey dong...
The admins do a great job and the forum is free, so how much can we really complain?
But they can be heavy-handed. I learned that when I became involved in WFO10. It was scheduled for my hometown. I sent some PM's, volunteered to help out, and pretty much nothing happened after that. Then the event was unceremoniously cancelled due to "lack of interest" or "lack of participation." I knew from behind the scenes that the organizers were just MIA when things were needing to be planned.
I then had the outrageous and radical idea that maybe people who already planned to come here could come here anyway, and we could all put on our big boy pants, pull off the FJR forum training wheels and ride our bikes without the powers that be to supervise.
As the idea gained momentum, out of the blue I received an ass-chewing from those on-high informing me that my activities were desecrating the sanctity of the WFO label. I responded, letting it be known that while i appreciate the forum, my plans to ride with some friends in the real world were not subject to some internet police authority. The thread was moved from WFO to somewhere else, WTF.0 was born, and we all got together and had a hell of a time. And by the way, there hasn't been a WFO since.....
So, while I really, really like this forum, I still have a bitter taste about the way that particular issue was handled.
