Another bump for this. I now have a couple of torque wrenches (beam-type up to 75 lb-ft, click-type 10-200 lb-ft). I have the HF tire changer, but I have yet to actually use it successfully (in fact, I need to fix part of it that I broke already

). I apparently still haven't figured out the technique.

Little over three weeks...

Still in, don't need any wrenching, but I'll be a beer and tool gopher.

I have a friend who lives in Eden who I drafted to be our taxi driver to/from the Anchor Bar for chow Sat nite. He says he can borrow his wifey's 3 row mini van, so if any parties are interested?.

Hmmm... you're only about four hours from me if I come up 62 and I might need an oil change around then... LOL

AFAIK, I'm still in for this.

Still thinking of camping but I could move inside

if there's room.

Should I bring 36mm socket, stem spanner or

carb sync'er?

Any other tools you won't have available?

I'm still in. I've got the required parts on order to replace fork bushings and seals. I will pack my tent. A place to plug in an extension cord to provide power to my tent would be nice, but not a necessity.

See you there.

Frankly the wings at the Anchor Bar are vastly overrated. You could probably do better right in Eden. I was born and raised near Niagara Falls and started going over to the Falls on the US side when I was 14 to Pete's Brooklyn Tavern. I spent many years sampling the wares of various establishments in the Western Tier coming back over the Peace Bridge as the sun was coming up. Unfortunately most of the good spots that I knew are long gone.

The Nic-L-Inn over by Jamestown used to have great Prime Rib but it has been a few years since I've stopped in.

There are those who say that Duff's has better wings than the Anchor (I think they even won a Wing Fest contest here in Buffalo). I know the wings at our local pizza place are pretty good too. Then there's Beef on 'Weck... <sigh> now I'm hungry.

62's not a bad ride. Better than slab for sure! If you want I can have the oil/filter here waiting for you.

I'm still in. I'm sure I wouldn't have any trouble finding a place to stay around there. I was thinking about heading up 62 myself. I drive that route a lot for work. Not a bad ride. The scenery is actually a little better than the road itself. For the tech part of the trip, I was considering a valve check, but El Toro Joe talked me out of it. Maybe lubing the spines of the shaft drive? Or maybe just observe.

I try other wings and always find myself going back to the Anchor. I like their sauce! Plus I figured newbies would want to go there as the inventor of the Buffalo Wing. U have to say you've been there, done that.

The only bad part I find is the wait (sometimes) on a Sat nite.

You mean somebody actually listens to Joe?

A valve check requires forethought.... like arriving the night before so the bike is cold, O-rings for your coolant pipe as a coolant change is required, consider WynPro blockoff plates so we can remove the PAIR system..... how many miles you got on that rig?

Nah, don't worry about that. I might leave behind a filter and some oil though... Also, I really like the idea of lubing the splines as I haven't done that.

Yah - personally, I prefer Duff's over the Anchor Bar's, but that's just me.

If'n we're gonna go on a field trip, may I suggest Pearl Street Grill & Brewery? https://www.pearlstreetgrill.com/

Just read the entire thread....... made a list, which I will edit as necessary........

Last edit 5-15 11:30 pm

Geezer - fork bushings and seals (need 1+ litre of fork oil, bring 2)

Wnfjr - fork oil flush, lube drive splines

pista - TBS, drive splines, steering head, fork flush & springs, coolant (did we decide at Owosso that we'd leave that for a valve check?)

EmmtBt - Canyon cages, fuse panel & wiring, I'd like to check sag readings on the GenIII A for education purposes.

chivvalry - oil change (need oil & filter), drive splines

FJRPittsburgh - valve check? (need o-rings), drive splines

TominCA - Suspension pivot service/bearings

I'm driving down with all the tools for that.... as there will be multiples being worked on, would help if there's a few extra 4mm, 5mm & 6mm hex drivers, spare wire, spare sockets for wheel removal (22 & 27), zip ties, shop rags, a few cans of Walmart brake clean (to flush forks). All should be responsible for helping Mike contain all the drained fluids for proper disposal...... should have drain pans for coolant, oil, fork oil and empty jugs. Clean up antifreeze spills so the pets don't get into it........ and any other shop rules Mike has.....

I will have Carbtune, steering head sockets and most tools to work on 1 or 2 bikes at a time. If you borrow a tool, please put it back where you found it when done or you die.

I vote KJ to take on the role of "BikerGeek of WNY Tech Day", and we might even let him take a picture or two. If BikerGeek is coming, he can train him... naw, forget it, he's untrainable.

Oh yes, will there be a Canadian flag to greet the Canadian Annexation Forces? Tim Horton's location has been noted already.......... we're good with Buffalo Sabres logo material........

Hmm... how hard is a fork oil flush/change? Haven't ever done that either... nor changed the coolant. I just ride it and change the oil once a year. Oh hey, I have some new horns that would be good to install as well... and a right hand mirror to swap.

I better check with the mistress of the house and see if I actually have a pass for this before I get too long a list going.

The only thing missing is 'slide 1' which I will have 2 of when I get there. I didn't order these originally because the parts fiche says it is included in the fork seal kit, but it isn't.

METAL, SLIDE 1 INCL. IN FORK SEAL KIT

4SV-23125-10-00 (replaces 4SV-23125-00-00)

I bought 2 seal kits, so I'll have an extra set of seals if anyone needs them. And while we have the fork tubes off I want to remove the fork brace and re-install the original shields, which I also have.

I'll bring whatever tools I can think of.
