I decided to send the bike to the shop for a TBS & rear brake repair (it was totally inop!).

The shop informed me that the front & rear brakes are linked.... I asked if that meant ABS? Ummm.... no, linked. I had no idea. I always assumed that non-ABS meant separate brake systems, front & rear.

Ya learn sumpin' everyday.

Am I missing the dry humor with an emoticon....or did they really believe this applies to Gen 1?

Ya learn the dealer has his head where the sun don't shine ! 04 is not linked, it was linked from 06 onward, but I know the 04 I had was not linked !

I'd probably look for a different dealer. I don't believe that my 05 even with ABS is linked. Now if it was an inferior 06, then I'd have to believe them.

Huh?

According to your avatar profile and your sig line you have an 04 non-abs. If that's true the folks you talked to at your dealer ARE ******* MORONS and you can tell them I said that. Run, do not walk, RUN away from that dealer.

As mentioned above, only Gen II FJRs (06 and up) have linked brakes and of course ABS came standard. Gen I FJRs (03-05) DO NOT have linked brakes whether they are non-abs or ABS. And I'm with you, I've never heard of linked system that has not been combined with ABS.

You should go back there and bait the silly ***-wipes and make a wager with them for lunch or something.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought something was fishy and missed some dry humor.

Yeah, the dealer is ******* moron! RUN AWAY!

The brakes ARE linked...!

Through the rider's brain -- which one? front? back? -- back? front?

How much? more? less? -- less? more?

(if only there were a computer to do this $h!t... )

Come on you guys!!! They ARE linked... the frame ties the front brake to the rear brake.

:D

Don't you turds ever grow tired of all the "inferior Gen-II" jokes??? I mean really, I hardly ever poke fun at your roasted Gen-I nuts and aquarium thermometers.

FYI , My 1994 Honda CBR1000F had LBS , linked braking system. Three pistons in each caliper . the front brake control worked one piston in the rear caliper and two pistons in each of the front calipers.

the rear brake control worked one piston in each of the front calipers and two pistons in the rear. The brakes on that bike worked great and would stop on a dime..

Obviously an error, and the thought of being psychically linked to you other preverts is going to haunt me for the rest of the day.

But run away? This would not be the first person to mix up which features are in which series.

yawn

Gold Wings have had linked brakes from the 1983 GL1100 Aspencade onwards, I know for a fact my 86 GL1200 Aspencade operated one of the front calipers from the rear brake pedal and the other front caliper was operated by the lever on the bars.

my bad. i was thinking of the change from the proportioning valve system to the new one that uses partial pistons on the other end than the control being used. the older system used all of the other end at a decreased level based on how the proportioning valve was set.

I had an 83 Aspy, an 84 Aspy, and a 98se. I simply didn't think of them as same thing as the 1800's system.
