I don't know if this is a farkle or not I shall put it out and let you wise heads be the judges

I have just bought an '05 FJR really well looked after and I was very fortunate right place right time etc..

The previous owner had installed a handlebar button that was connected to a garage door opener wired down the left bar and the clipped in to the housing behind the headlight, I have looked through the forum but have not seen anything like it. This setup frees up fumbling in the storage box for the opener or leaving it on a mounting where somebody might "find" it.

Here are some pics

Please excuse any faux pas I may make as this is the first time I have tried to post on a forum. I do realize the pics are in the wring order

Thanks Two, but I must give any credit to the previous owner did you see my feeble attempt at soldering?

And if you have three garage doors:

:D :D :D

Here was my solution.

That was some pretty fancy posting for a forum noob. Great job on the pics!

Wha? Oh I see, It's a joke  Be nice Stef ;)

:jester:

Not to hijack, but what is this this extra switch with a headlight decal next to it?

My 07 doesn't have it, but I'm suspecting it's a high beam flasher? perhaps if you are on low beam, you pull that one for high, for flashing oncoming traffic?

I can live with the pics being in the wrong order. It's the spelling that really gripes my ***!

And just what in the H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks is wrong with the ol' velcro solution, everyone? You see, that's youziz problems--youz always gots to over-complicate things. The simplest solution is best. Haven't you ever heard of Ockham's Razor? :graduated:

For me, it's velcro, duct tape, and White-Out, every time. Yep, that's what keeps my radar detector, Ray-Bans, and garage door opener on the bike at abnoxious speeds and maneuvers:

I just put a mini opener on my keychain

Its 1.5 x 1x .25 inches. $25 REAL easy fix.

Its actually shorter than the stock key and fits in a pocket nicely. easy to hit when pulling into the driveway.

If ya ask nicely I'll get off my lazy but and take a pic.

JB

Get some REAL farkels, ... :p

& klaen your shelf man; Who are you tryen to be, ? Odot: Ya ' herd of a strate razor N goo-Gone?

er... and just where would i have room for something like a glasses case or garage door opener if not in my tank bag?

That glasses case would look real nice velcro'd to the top of the brake reservoir.

BTW, I don't consider my GDO solution above a farkle. Now my headlights....

This placement seems ill-advised:

It would appear that hitting a sizable pothole, or crossing some rough railroad tracks, etc might send that fork protector upward high with enough to smack the garage door opener, and likely dislodge it from its perch.

I would turn that component around as it is shown in your top photo. Probably should ensure the wire is tucked out of harm's way, too.

toecutter - Thank you very much...I was just about to try and address the no-opener issue on the bike, you have offered and simple solution!

Regards,

B

You guys are friggin' weak. My garage door open farkle works this way: As I enter the drive, I blip the throttle twice which cues the SO, who then snaps to and hits the door opener for me, then hands me my toddy, 'gar, house coat and slippers as I enter the house. When you gonna learn to wear pants?
