I didn't read "get extra consideration" into it but whatever. I damn sure ain't gonna sign up to facebook and the like so I can get consideration, increase my visibility, etc. If they want an honest opinion of comfort and functionality they'll give me one to test. If they want free pre-production advertising by people who will play their game and kiss their collective *****, they'll give it to someone else. It ain't that important to me, find someone else's nose to poke up your butt.
I may have misinterpreted the sentence "Riders can increase their visibility in the selection process by sharing Skully on Facebook and Twitter." But no, once I figured out how to get off Facebook, I ain't goin' back ... LOL
I'm and my mother are the only phone/computer literate people I know personally that don't Crackbook. Good on you for kicking the habit

I saw this at the Long Beach MC show last December, pretty cool.
I also agree with some liability and concentration issues etc.

This technology reminded me of that Mike Nesmith (The Monkey's) dirt bike movie, Timerider: The Adventure of Lyle Swann. If you haven't seen this flick it's worth the watch. Only took 31 years to get something close to it.
That was a fun movie, one needed in the collection of every motorcyclist, just because.

You know? That beta testing program is pretty danged clever. You announce the program, get a bunch of people to sign up, then you respond and tell them that they'll be given extra consideration if they'll get on Twitter and Facebook and help promote the product. Now you've got a few thousand people out there chatting the product up hoping to get a free helmet, and all it cost the manufacturer is a few helmets.
My teacher in my marketing class (hundred years ago) would have loved that!

If you normally scan something 30, 40, 60 (likely) degrees off axis and now put it in a helmet (in your FOV), it will be safer. The science has already been done on this. No self assessment necessary.
Still curious how this would work in the world of street riding. The flying environment is way different than the riding environment. You also will have those that will focus on the display, then have to refocus on the road. Plus, most fighter pilots are way younger than (me…most everyone is anymore) those riding this bike. Also I would think a pilot is trained to use this technology, not just handed a helmet and told go see how you like it.

Saying that…doesn't mean I wouldn't jump at the chance to try this technology out!

It never was a habit. I signed up and a couple of weeks later I was searching the Internet for instructions on how to get out ;)

if anyone gets Motorcycle Consumer News, they have a blip on the bulletins about a HUD visor set up expected to be available this summer….Company is Nuviz, and it only cost approx. $649.00. Who's gonna' be first?

Not-too-dead-thread-rez-alert!!

Got an email from Skully helmets today saying,

"BIG NEWS! SKULLY Beta testing is here and it's time to celebrate. Many more selections are coming throughout the month of July.

Thank you for your enthusiasm and passion. Words cannot express how excited we are to bring SKULLY AR-1 to you.

While not everyone can be selected for beta testing, we are working day and night to make the first production version of Skully available soon.

Happy Independence Day!

So maybe I'm in the running to test a helmet, maybe I'm not. I figure right now I'm not b/c they didn't ask my size

. But at least they seem to be following thru with the project. We'll see how it goes, eh? Their website has a short video of what it will do in the "How to Get a Skully" section.

Don't get your adrenaline in a knot. We all got that email. Unless any of us have been praising their name on Facebook, Twitter and whatever else, I'm betting our chances are low. They don't want riders, they want free advertisement.

They wanted a pool of email addys. When they get done teasing us they will sell our addys to spammers...we will get viagra offers.
