It's HOT. Are You Still ATGATT?

Rode Frank last night with lid and gloves but sans jacket, t shirt only in 80+ temps. It was lovely. Sometimes I even ride sans helmet, but rarely now. ATGATT is a good idea, don't get me wrong, but sometimes ya just gotta live free or die, or sumpin like that. ;)
I'm with you on that. I wear what I feel I need. I have been riding for over 40 years in this manner and will probably continue to do so. I guess I am just not politically correct.
I'll admit to being part of the minority. Lid on 95% and jacket 70% of the time. The weather determines the rest. I like to feel naked but mostly when riding around my hood. Wore shorts once on the FJR too, but never again. Legs were medium-well when I got home. To each his own, the responsible approach of most riders here does have a positive influence.

So we will all get together and sing to soviet anthem. Yup food Nazi's, gear Nazi's smoke Nazi's drink Nazi's. Please stay in your world and do not try to change mine. Oh and please do not have kids because we have to help pay for their being schooled. Do you ever speed? Do you ever drink?
Yes, yes, yes. I understand where your coming from. You win. It's hard to argue logic like that. So you and this guy most definitely have it right. Forgive me, please.

Have a nice day!

"stuck in his craw that they made him retire at the age of sixty five................"

Doesn't matter to me how you ride. Take it all off if you like.
I do hope I'm not paying for your medical support at some point....
GUNNY!

Therein lies the rub. Your actions eventually do affect me. Don't think otherwise.

BTW, What heat? It's 650 today and it may not break 700.

I'm not sure what your rub is, but it seems to me that you agree with TWN; the actions of others do affect you.

it's not a requirement that people use the information available, freely, to them and the world might be a better place without those people :) I now live in a college town where the crotch rockets and scooters are as prevalent as the cyclists without gear. I don't care if they wear a helmet or not in IA, but I'll be damned if I'm going to feel sorry for them when they wreck.

linky

Oh, and on topic; mesh gear in summer for the days where the rain chances are less than 50% :)

Completely naked for me.

Except I still wear the boots, helmets, and gloves. I'm not that crazy.... :)

For me, MOTGATT to and from work, ATGATT for riding of any distance. I love my Cycleport mesh jacket and pants. The Cycleport pants are the only pants I've ever found that have the knee armor over the knee when on the bike! I use Kushitani racing gloves even in the hottest weather. The knuckle bones are really ugly without skin covering them. I know I'm risking skin when riding to work in Levi's, but I never ride without the Kevlar jacket, helmet, gloves, and boots.
Solo
+1. I wear the Cycleport jacket ALWAYS...along with boots, gloves, helmet, etc. Jeans around town. I wear the Cycleport mesh pants for longer trips - they are just too bulky for me for around town.

Now, see, that logic just doesn't fit to me. By the application of that logic, I couldn't choose to live someplace like New Orleans because it might get hit by a hurricane and cost you money. Or, I couldn't live in California, because there might be an earthquake or wildfire. Heaven forbid if I want to live on the banks of the Mississippi! We all know who pays for these things!

I should never fly in an airplane for my job because sometimes, those things fall out of the sky. In fact, I should never even go to a stupid hospital. If they make a mistake with dosage, I could be a non-productive member on life support forever!!! OMG! I can't even get in my frickin' car! That rare plane that falls from the sky could land on ME!!! Worse, it could cost YOU!

Folks, please. All of our actions affect us all. We are all a small part of a larger whole. We collectively take care of the collective. I think that is why they call it a society. And, within reason, I get to chose what part I play in the collective.

As a collective society, the "whole" decides what is and what is not a "reasonable" role for the individual. Surely, we, of all people in this society, don't want to bring "motorcycles and their risks" to the table of consideration.

Well there is the argument then that the very fact we ride at all has the potential to make us a drag on society's pockets, because people who wear gear also get injured and can be quite costly to repair. This argument would have us all in cages regardless were risk to be the sole determining factor. Oh, wait, cages crash and the occupants incur costs society has to bear. So I guess it's horsies then. Oh, wait

Cute sign I guess you are like the old lady driving down the road. None of those damn bikers should be allowed. Like I said every one has something they think every one else should have to follow because they know so damn much better. There are on hell of a lot of people who think you should not have a right to drive no matter what you wear yet you think you know what every one else should be forced to wear.

Thank you, you were much more polite in saying exactly what I said. Of course our safety police man did not like it at all. We choose every day what and how much we want to risk. There are plenty of bureaucrats who would like for us to all have to drive under 50 too.

Exactly. Minimize the risk, minimize the cost to society. That's all I'm saying.

You win.

Then you better not Ride since there is a risk.

I'm doing my best. My little 'episode' has made a more disciplined 'wearer of gear' out of me. But, I do have to admit; the major motivating factor was not your pocketbook, but the family's future. (I can't have the wife spending my life insurance money with some other man.) ;)

I bet you were always the first kid knocked out in dodge ball, weren't you?

Jebus.

Nope but I bet you got more than your share of weggies. Plus if don't think you need all that horsepower I mean you only need to go the speed limit I think your bike only need at most 30 hp. Gosh you can go 100 with a bike with that kind of horse power and we don't want to take any risks do we. Bet you mother never gave you a Red Rider BB gun when you were a kid ether.

Using mesh jacket and pants; ATGATT. Still pretty warm though when stop and go, rolling not too bad.

True that...

Pants = Levis

Of course the usual riding/work boot, full finger gloves and a helmet.
