Checking in , made it home 1.5 hours less than the trip up (weather and the rigorous training the previous two days). 1,662 miles, door to door.

Well you definately have that 09 broken in now! :glare:

Ann & I got home about 2:30. We did the route up through Vermont and it was excellant. Once again we hit Rain for a couple of hours after we crossed over the Mass boarder, Gettin use to it buy now. Now to download the pic's from the camera. More to come.

I thought I' d better check in and explain why Jason and I disappeared from the group. Jason and I got slowed up in traffic leaving Long Lake and fell behind. We finally made visual contact with the group in Tupper Lake but by then unfortunately Jason's rain gear wasn't up to the task so he decided to turn back and head home back down Rt. 28. Normally, I'd have ridden home with him, but I didn't want the group to be waiting at the next stop wondering what happened to us so I continued on solo. I rode into Saranac Lake, Lake Placid and Keene and found no trace of the group so when I got to Rt. 73 & 87 I just bagged it and headed south on 87.

I hope everyone made it home safe. (Any word on Matt??) And, thanks to Iris and Jim for putting this event together again this year.

Did you guys happen to pass a Black Cherry FJR headed north on 28 right around noon?

I went solo through the 'Daks on Saturday as I needed to head home a day early than expected - 2 FJR's were headed south on 28 as I was making my way toward Long Lake and the Adirondak Inn just about noon - made it the the Inn at 12:10.

Hit Tupper Lake after that to Route 3 through Watertown - Route 3 eventually turns into Route 104 around Oswego which takes me straight home. Put another 400+ miles in getting home on Friday.

Ray,

I'm sorry that our communication broke down, we thought you headed back South right after lunch along with Dave (on the Honda CBR). We're glad that you posted and that you made it home safe. Thanks for coming along this year.

Matt is doing fine. I spoke to him at our Lake Placid stop and he apparently just pulled some muscle tissue...nothing broken nor seperated.

Jim and Iris

Good news on Matt!

No problem on the communication breakdown...but honestly, the last guy in the group out of Long Lake (solo rider on an FJR) did pass Jason (Moto Guzzi) and I on Rt. 30. He should have been looking for us both on the next stop.????

Also, I don't know how I missed you in Lake Placid? Must of had my head up my a$$.

No worries, all's well that ends well.

Iris and I want to thank those who came to our (2) day adventure thru the Catskills and Adirondacks. Even though the weather did not cooperate 100% as well as a couple of other misfortunes, all in all we were glad to share our rides with you. I'm sure there will be other photos, but here's a couple that we wanted to share.

We hope everyone had a good time and got home safe.

Jim and Iris.

It was nice seeing folks again, and also meeting some new ones. Once again, Jim & Iris proved that some people are just great organizers/leaders and they are certainly some people.

Julie and I left the restaurant last night and said "hey looks like the rain let up, let's just ride home". So, of course we rode back to Pittsfield in what was pretty much a series of downpours. We got home at around 11:15 and almost 24 hours later my gear is still drying out. I was just glad everyone thought we were staying there so no one would be worrying. We did make it back fine, just learned it can be a bit tough to see when raining hard and there's lights all around. Also, did see one deer on the side of rt. 20, but it just watched. Oh, and a GPS that's rated IPv4 waterproof can't hold up to about 8 hours of rain and really hard rain. I think it'll be fine though.

I'm going to be going through our pictures, but wanted to give a quick thanks and such first.

Wow. I though I was the only one riding in that downpour. I was very glad to see my garage last night. Glad you guys got home OK.

And it was great seeing my old friends and meeting some new ones as well, FJR gatherings are always fun. Thanks Jim and Iris for hosting another excellent Cats and Daks.

Jim & Iris

I had a great time this weekend. :yahoo: Thanks for all your effort in putting this together. :clapping:

Turns out that Dave the Britt has a camp just a few miles from my house. Maybe we'll do some riding this summer.

It was good to see old friends and meet new ones. I'll see you all next time.

Ride safe

Looks like I missed another good one. Thank gawd track season is over after next week!! And the weather doesn't look like it was all that bad. I think you guys lucked out for the most part. The really crappy stuff didn't come in until the ride home.

Did you have enough people to need to split into 2 groups again? Sounds like maybe not this time.

And I'm curious. Who is Matt and what happened to him?

I met Matt on Friday's ride, he's Ok even though he's a New Yorker. He showed everyone a very fun roller coaster shortcut on the way to breakfast. He rode his little BMW crotch rocket really well and did good with the group of old FJR riders; meaning he followed the rules of group riding. I couldn't imagine what happened, but I hope he didn't get run over by an FJR

Just wanted to add that I also had a great time on Saturday meeting and riding with everyone. Made it back home in 8 1/2 hours on Sunday...nice sunny day...and no rain. I'm looking forward to the next chance I get to ride with you all...maybe EOM???

Matt wasn't ready to leave yet when we all departed a scenic photo/rest stop. He quickly caught up with the second group, passed when safe, then was attempting to bridge back to the first group. Unfortunately, I don't think his head was 110% in the game and he came into one of them sneaky tight turns too hot and went off into the grass. His shoulder may have dislocated and relocated by the time he got to the ER, because it was hurting him pretty good but nothing was broken and he could move it again.

Thanks for the update, hope he heals up quick.

Any pictures of the suprise visitor after I left you all on Friday?

I took backroads all the way home to avoid any speed traps and one road turned into a 3 mile goat trail but I was able to keep a pretty good pace even on that road.

One of the other unfortunate events that happened (after you left, Bill).....was a pullover by a LEO. It wasn't so bad because because no tickets were issued (well, not on Friday anyhow). Jim's smooth demeaner "assurred" the officer that it was not that particular group of riders that was speeding.

Saturday, Shawnking took one for the team

Jim's smooth demeaner
I wish I knew how to do that! Be smooth rather than a Masshole that is

On my ride home from last years Dack ride I recieved an award 1 town away from home for 5 over (embarrassed I was going that slow so I never said anything about this to anyone) This year, different 1 town away I saw my only speed trap but I was going at a crawl through it.
