Aawww! Makes me wish I had kept the ST when I had the chance, but I got tired literally of wrestling the 720lb wet PIG around and just couldn't quite bring myself to go naked.
This was taken at Deals Gap recently. Anyone crazy enough to strip one down this far is probably just crazy enough to see how fast she'll go. Those 1300s would handle better than they should even fully clothed. Just lacked some HP vs the XX. Now, heavily modded, who only knows. Maybe more rider vs. rider capabilities or who's kraziest!

How would that compare with a V-max? Talk about a minimalist approach.. Maybe he crashed it and ruined the plastic so made a "naked" street-fighter from the remains. It looks pretty cool and I'll bet he gets a lot of comments. Only.......no place for soft bags or a tank or seat bag.......

Back to our regularly schedules program: I'll be looking at the comparisons with interest.

These were sent to me by another XX owner lusting over the new GTR.... believe he said these were done by a dude on the COG forum...

This red looks pretty killer....

This bronze color is... interesting:

I know a lot of ZX-14 owners like the blue, but it doesn't do it for me...

Um.... er..... uh..... okay:

Well, if'n you're going to do the flame thing, it might as well be red on red:

Here's proof that Kawasaki has been reading this forum - recently, too. See what happens when a public forum becomes as gay as this one has?

The Kawi looks so good because they essentially took the basic lines from the FJR. If you blur focus on the two bikes, they are very similar.

This bike has my interest. When my FJR has 200k miles, I might buy one of these.

Okay, so how do you pronounce Concours? Do you pronounce the "s"?

Sorry if this was discussed. It has my interest so I need to know how to pronounce the animal.

I should know better.
Yeah, pay no attention to those who seem to have a lisp..... though I agree they are irritating as **** when you're trying to have a serious discussion about a subject. :glare:

The second syllable in the word "Concours" is pronounced like the beer brand "Coors". So basically, think "Con-Coors" for the pronunciation.

That having been said.... what a completely dumb-ass marketing move on Kawi's part, to associate a cutting-edge supersport-touring platform with that ancient-ass POS Connie-bike. While it served a very important role when it first came out, the GTR1400 shares absolutely NOTHING with that 20-year old machine. Nothing whatsoever. Nowadays, the moniker "Concours" (or Connie as it's frequently referred to) is now associated with a frugal (read: cheap-ass) owner that typically has one of those, uh, "unique" personalities (I'm being kind here.... ;)

Still, everywhere else in the entire world knows this new bike as the GTR1400. Only here in the states does it have that stupid-ass Connie moniker. While I am pretty interested in the platform from what I see thus far, I'm certainly not in a position to score one anytime soon, but if I did, those ridiculous "Concours 14" decals will be peeled off and ****-canned along with the gay-ass DOT reflectors before I even wheel the bike off the showroom floor.

I like the photo shopped pictures. Adding color to the gills makes them look acceptable. Take that pink one and make it red and you've really got something.

It'll be interesting when Jerold at D&H Cycle gets his hands on the Kaw sport-tourer. D&H is a Yamaha/Kaw dealer so Jerold has extensive knowledge of the FJR.

The Kaw has better packaging than the FJR. The fuel tank is isolated from the engine bay so there shouldn't be a heat problem with the tank. The air box is above the engine which is the preferred location for most sport bikes. The ignition coils are mounted atop the spark plugs, etc. The throttle control should be better on the Kaw.

The FJR's design is approximately six years old. A lot has changed in those six years in sport bike design.

If the Kaw is executed properly it should be far superior to the FJR.

Right on! :clapping: It makes you wonder how the Big 4 can manufacture such great motorcycles and then (1) build something that nobody wants, or (2) completely screw up the marketing on something that should have great interest.
