Talking with TMJ and it seems that somehow, miraculously, we are free this long weekend.

Long range forecast for the weekend looks goodly. You've all got the Ride to Eat GPS files.

So... Where are we goin?

I've got nothin. But I know we want to get out,so who's game and has a plan?

(All plans considered, and especially if you'll lead)

Fred Yes it looks like a great weather weekend (Traffic...maybe not so much LOL) My brother and wife are in from New Mexico for a few so Sat. is out for us, not sure about the rest of the weekend I will stay tuned in. JAG

Oooh, what's Eagles Nest, should I google it?

More on the "Eagles Nest": It doesn't look like much from the outside. That plywood over the window has been there for years (might be where they stuff a window AC when its really hot in July). If a passerby hadn't been tipped off about it they'd never stop. Then when you walk in you notice that the whole place is cantilevered out over the river bank, with the water a hundred feet below. The floor of the shack slants towards the river as if the water is beckoning it to slide down, but it does make it easier to wash down the floor at night.

I was taken there the first (several) times by some of the locals while working across the river in Bangor. When you order a lobster roll, you should always ask for an extra bun. They are just buttered and toasted hot dog rolls, as is the tradition for most lobstah rolls, but the Eagles Nest gives you so much lobster meat it will easily fit into two buns. And it's whole claws and knuckles, not just the tail meat. I think that asking for the second bun is also their tip-off that you are a local and "in the know", worthy of a full serving, vs. just some passerby tourist.

And, you can ask MEM about this, but try not to speak with a Canadian accent for the biggest serving Instead, just say "Ayuh!" a lot. :p .

Now this is a lobstah roll!!

Just off the #1 in Maine so you might have some dodging to avoid the tourists. Looks like it might be pretty good. Thinking about it...

Yeah, Owl's Head Museum is a supposed to be a really good take.

One of my co-workers, who used to live up in Bucksport, worked there after he retired. He has now, unfortunately, passed on, but he always spoke reverently about the place. However, if I were going there I'd probably much rather do it on a non-hoopty weekend or, better yet, a weekday when you could take your time and enjoy the exhibits. I'd imagine there will be a large pirate contingent there this weekend. :pirate:

Fred, you and your gang of misfits are always welcome to stop down at our new beach house in Galilee RI. Plenty of seafood restaurants within 200 yards. I'm still rehabing after receiving a new hip nearly 3 weeks ago so I cannot join the ride but drop ins (or outs) are always welcome. George

As we've all seen many times on "Diner Drive-ins and Dives", the dives are usually the best hidden? places for chow. Yep, locals are the ones to ask.

Good lookn lobstah shack, I'm thinking this one is on the Chowda Run?

The 'beams are probably going to be free at some point. I have some 'home work' that needs to be done and the FJR is begging for a little maintenance but there are going to be 3 days to get it all done.

Wrong end of the country - we'll be heading over Rogers Pass to play in the Kootenays (basecamp is the Nakusp Hot Springs, for those that remember from CFR09). With luck, it won't even snow :)

Should be a BLAST. :yahoo:

And damn, that lobster DOES look good :dribble:
