This one shows the color temperatures better I believe..

The FF50's are H3 incadecent lights that pull 110W for the pair or around 8-8.5A.

A pair of 1800's = 3.6A

1500's = 3.0A

550's = 2A

So 2-1800's and 2-550's will be 5.6A or around 74 watts.
Yes!! Exactly. That is what makes this setup so potentially attractive to us watt starved 1st gen'ers. Plus, Alex, I'm not sure if you realize, but the 'Strom folks are in the same electron deprived state as that, even worse! if you can believe that. So a few appropriate links over on StromTroopers or VSRI forums would probably generate some serious interest from the 'zooki riders.

But before you do, please, please, pretty please...

show me some beam cast pics and let me order some of these puppies before your stock becomes completely depleted. ;)

Not sure that this is all THAT amazing since a pair of kick-*** HIDs sucks a bit less current and puts a bit more and a lot better focused light on the road, though you don't have to find space for a ballast with LEDs.

I love the aux HID light output and focus, however can't seem to find anything worth installing less than $600. That is a **** load more of money compared to <$200 for a pair of these.

Most people I have been talking to complain the Aux HID's become unusable in traffic making them expensive hood ornaments. :(

There was a deal last year on eBay for the Hella Micro DE HID driving lights - it wasn't $200, but it was less than $400 delivered.

As it happens, I've had this model on my past couple of rides and I keep an eye open on eBay - There is presently a set on eBay in Australia asking AUS$350 - actually then 'buy it now' is MUCH higher, but no one has bid yet - it closes in 14 hours - but the seller doesn't offer shipping beyond the borders of Oz.

Very true. My HID's take a while to warm up and are completely unusable in areas of traffic. I like the idea that you can install a dimmer on these. I'm working on finding the best option.

I know I looked all over for the Hella Micro DE's. I missed the buy on the forum last year (bummer and no money then anyway). Everywhere else I can't find anything less than $600 :(

EDIT - The beamcast on these puppies will decide. I am hoping these will be a whole lot better than a pair of Hella FF50's for example. I could use the extra light!

Any chance for a closeup photo showing the bracket mounting to the fender? I'm definitely interested...cheaper option than Clearwaters, which I simply can't afford, lol.
Here are a few up close photos of the included bracket mounted using the factory fender hardware:

I'm looking at the 550Lm now and it says "SOLD INDIVIDUALLY". I'm guessing that means they are $42.50 per light. Am I correct?
Yes, $85 for a pair.
I admit I didn't catch that myself the first time, but it makes sense. These look like great quality units for half the cost of Clearwaters. If I didn't buy the Chinese HID's last year (that were painted and shipped by Alex.....don't remember who spearheaded the GB) I would be all over these ones (1800lm). Nice lights!!!

It's probably a stupid question in hindsight, but I've seen items that would normally be sold in pairs listed as "individual" yet you get the pair - I just want to make sure. Adding it to the cart obviously answered my question... my bad.

I have been thinking about a pair of LEDs to replace my Hella FF50s. I'll give these a try.

I took pictures of a country road and in front of my garage so you could see the light patterns and effective range.

Bear with me guys, there are quite a few photo's.

First off the country road with 1 pair of 1800Lm LED's mount up high:

Now for the 1500Lm mounted on the forks

now all 6 turned on :blink:

Have had them awhile?

Riding in all sorts of vibration prone situations ???

Honestly I have only a tiny dog in the hunt, but admit have been disappointed in fragile and leaky and broken accessory lights both for my cages and bikes.

Broken lenses, water intrusion, short lived bulbs, etc.

The extreme video of the expensive Clearwaters showing the Glenda bouncing down the racetrack after a crash then shining brightly attached to 12v soon after is impressive.

I completely understand where you are coming from. However, I wouldn't of purchased them if there wasn't any info to fall back on. I've been following a thread on advrider with 1208 posts and 170,125 views of riders that love them. The member there happens to be offering them for substantially more than I am.

I think you might be wrong there. A 35W HID lamp doesn't draw only 35 watts from the electric system as would be intuitive. The capsule does consume ~ 35 watts, but there are also considerable power losses in the ballast. The ones that have been measured came in at around 3.5 amps (~50 watts) each of running current, with considerably more during initial ignition. So the power consumed is roughly twice that of the higher power 1800 lumen LEDs.

One of the things that I liked least about my telescopic HID headlamps was that when they were switched to high beam, just like the stock H4 halogens, they leave a major void of coverage in the foreground. I have a pair of 55W Hell FF50's that I used to fill that void (pointed low) but I found that with a first gen, you cannot run a pair of 55W aux lights and any heated gear (grips or gloves) simultaneously or you go into alternator deficit. think a pair of these LED lights might allow that.

The pictures above (not wanting to reply to that) - are the images of each set of lights by themselves or with the headlights?

I'm 95% there...wait, could I save the shipping and just ride out to get them?? ;)
