I will also weigh in on this because I had a transaction with another forum member where there was a misunderstanding, and it pained me to think someone would think I had purposely set out to scam anyone.
I got payment via PayPal but didn't know about it because the notification email from PayPal evidently got trapped in my ISP's spam-box. The buyer did not PM me or email me separately, figuring that when I got the notification from PayPal that I would ship the item. I was mortified when I happened to log into PayPal more than a week later, to buy something elsewhere, and found out that the money had been sitting in my PayPal account for some time. I had been waiting to hear from the prospective buyer but up to the point he paid PayPal he hadn't told me definitely that he was buying it.
So naturally I got in touch immediately and told the buyer I would ship the item ASAP. He told me that since he hadn't heard from me, he was just about to institute the PayPal dispute resolution process to get his money back!
So my advice is, always communicate and get confirmation, before *assuming* anything about the motives of the other party. I am glad my situation turned out OK but boy was I embarrassed, because I never would want to give anyone any reason to think I was being anything other than completely honest, even if it was due to a simple misunderstanding
And just to be 100% sure this post is not misinterpreted, I am not unhappy with how my transaction turned out (and I sure hope the buyer thinks the same), nor do I put any blame on anyone involved other than myself for not checking my PayPal account more often. Remember that folks, if you use PayPal, it might be a good idea if the seller doesn't respond after getting your payment, maybe he didn't get the "you've got funds" notification email, because it definitely happened to me.
