Great things are afoot
I sign in to report the addition of myself to the crash club, only to read JB's excellent and astute observation of our passion. I was going to go with something more like "stupid hurts (and it ain't all that cheap either)
So here goes my tale of woe!
Beautiful day here in NorCal, so naturally, I must go for a ride. All is going well and I take a little side road out of Shingletown that after a few miles turns in a kind of wide, single lane. Plenty of 10 Mph hairpins, blind corners and the like. Having never been down this road, I am following the speed limit and kind of checking out the valley below that is opening up before me (beautiful) when I come out of a medium uphill right hander into a left to right that is downhill. I could not have been going more then 25-30 TOPS! Well, I didn't line up the turn before I glanced up to see the valley that just opened up at the crest of the hill and when I refocused on the road I was already in trouble. I went off the shoulder into the rocks and was trying not to jam the brakes too hard and low side her. I think that I gave just a bit to much lean and put the rear wheel into a slid and out and into "the rock" marked as such in the photo. I am pretty sure that is what then launched my very short career as "high sided AGATT solo act". Naturally, there was a 10 foot or so embankment that was on that side of the road, and we both went down it. Badcat Burk had just recently filled my Karma mug and I do believe that I used every drop up. Helmet shows that I pretty much missed putting my head through a tree/rock or other unforgiving item. Missed all the rocks and stickes ect at the bottom of the hill by sheer luck/devine intervention. Pretty much just banged up my right shoulder/right ribs. New supervisor (just moved to the area and ONLY local phone # in the cell) came with her husband and fetched me (30 miles or so out of the way)and took me to the hospital. Got my first ever CT scan (that's what I do for a living) which showed no broken bones, organs ect. Then they brought me home (in pouring rain and got me some food to eat as well!) Stacy ROCKS! One of the other ladies that works where I now do, she and her husband are graciously storing my bike for now as it happened about 10 minutes from where they live. So, it's a Sunday of Vicoden and Olympics for me!
Remember kiddies, shiny side up!
Road and said rock
Where we ended up, bike: 3rd tree from the left, me: 7th tree from the left.
Do you think that this will buff out?
This is what makes me think I slid the *** end into the rock. There is a definate absense of "dent" in the front rim.
For some strange reason, the neutral light will not go out! Go figure............
Back to the couch!
