My Master tool box consists of about a couple hundred hammers in all sorts of sizes.

In the instrumentation world they are not hammers, they are knockometers. The knuckle dragging millwrights I know refer to them as swinging presses.
They are used for 'percussive maintenance'.

Also known as a "physicist's screwdriver".

Is this higher incidence of ignition switch failures attributed to a certain year model or Gen II bikes? AE Bikes? Just curious.

I can understand how not running the wires properly can put stress on them when the handle bars are turned, suspension compressed, etc. For my farkling wiring, I am now resolved to zip tie the wire to the factory wiring in the area of whatever I'm working on. For example, if the wires need to go up to the handlebars, I zip tie them to the cables and throttle wiring harness, taking GREAT care to allow the same amount for strain relief. My electrical issues have been reduced that way.

Do you have any "odd" farkles installed? (Anything that would cause additional arcing or sparking at the ignition switch contacts).

No I don't, Donal. I'm not a big farkling guy. All I have is my GPS and radar detector and both are SAE wired directly to the battery through the pigtail for my tender nice and neat without tapping into anything else. Since I'm not an electrical guy, I don't want to mess with anything I don't know. It just makes life easier for me. :)

Well that sucks! Bring it up here this weekend. I will be doing electrical troubleshooting on another bike also.

I'd love to, believe me, Bob. I love nothing more than to run up there and learn how to do that while knocking that out. But, I'm up to my ass in alligators right now with work and a smaller summer crew. Come On Winter!!

Well, I just thought I would throw that out there since you missed tech day!

Much appreciated, Bob. You have NO idea how badly I want to do that. Please keep me posted when you do have them. One day, All the stars will line up and I'll be there with bells on. I'll even get there the day before to help you clean the place up.

Well since you're a Floridian rooting for the start of winter, I'll just say, get yinz a superior Gen I and your starter problems will be solved. Meanwhile, I can wait for winter.

Any word from the shop?

Tomorrow is the weekend. To go through it without a bike is kind of cruel and unusual punishment, don't ya think?

Ahem...

I just dropped the bike off at the shop. Two and a half week turnaround time, Jeeeeeze... I'll keep you posted.
Yea, sucks being without a bike. I'm kinda sorta there myself right now.

You don't need me to save you any time. You have two and a half weeks of no bike...that means you have all the time in the world.

Jealous Elfyguy, for sure!

Oh well - hang in there M/M. If the weather is anything like here, it's so friggin hot anyway. Hard to even get excited about the weekend.

Dog days of summer, fer sure....

Damn, Jasen. That's cold. Go ahead and kick me in the ribs while I'm down there.

On the bright side, It's going to be nothing but brutal heat and rainy for the next couple of weeks. I need that 4 hours in 100 degree heat with no water to wear off. Two and a half weeks should do it.
