Some of you are already aware of my wife's problem. She experienced breast cancer for which she completed treatment 4 1/2 year ago. On Dec 28th she got a severe pain in her back to which we both attributed to a pinched nerve. She had had the same problem a few months before and was treated successfully by our GP.
On Jan 29th the pain got worse and extended into her right leg. On Sunday Jan 31st she was transported to the hospital. It was determined that she had two fractured ribs and a fractured vertebrae. These were due to cancer settling into her bones. It also is affecting her right leg. After 12 days in the hospital and having the vertebrae "glued" back together her pain was reduced enough to allow her to return home.
She started radiation and chemo simultaneouly while still in the hospital and now has completed the radiation. The chemo will continue until some undetermined time in the future. It will depend on future tests, i.e. bone scans and MRIs. She is getting around with the use of a walker but still in in quite a bit of pain which is controlled by meds as much as possible. This is going to be a very tough and long battle but one of the best things we have on our side is she is a real fighter and will do all within her power to beat it.
Due to this and other reasons I decided to sell my FJR (not an easy decision). I was very fortunate to find a buyer, Andyman on this forum who will be picking it up in less than two weeks. As my wife's primary care giver I would not have much if any time to ride and I hated seeing the bike sit in the garage, knowing I could not get on it. Also if I kept riding and got smacked by a cager or screwed up and wrecked then my two kids (grown with families of their own) would have to take care of both of us. That was not a risk I felt I could take at this time.
We have a great support system in place with friends and family and lots of prayers being made everyday for Sharon. All prayers are welcome. Before closing I should mention that she and her granddaughter picked out her walker, a PINK ROLLATOR with oversiized tires and silver metal flake in the pink paint. She is pleased with it.
