OK, so I see CFO has a time and place. Several long distance events have been announced. Hell, Wheaton has even planned a camping trip.

My calender is filling up fast, BUT I have yet to see that a specific time and place has been set for NAFO. Did I miss the announcement, or is it still up in the air? I don't think I have even seen anything official as to who is going to be in charge of NAFO, just that it will coincide with EOM.

Any info would be helpful. My wife has already claimed 1 of my three weeks of vacation, and depending on where NAFO might be, I need to decide if I want to use a full week on it.

Hmm...I can only assume from the lack of a response that at this point we don't know where NAFO is going to be, when it will occur, or who is going to be in charge of it. Interesting.

No.

True to your moniker, it just means you haven't read the full thread as at least one of those questions have already been answered....multiple times. Try reading it again...post #19 in particular.

And as a point of reference I know that the last NAFO wasn't announced until January of the year....as also WFO and some other regional events.

Read post 19, actually, read the entire thread.

So nothing new in the last 2.5 months. That's fine, just a little surprising. Don't get your panties in a bunch.

NAFO is being handled by Luvtoride and Violione. If you have questions as to location and dates you should check with them.

Cool. I thought you were just throwing them into it.

I just had it called to my attention that there has been recent discussion going on here about this. Nothing has been announced because it hasn't been planned. Several venues have been looked into but no decisions have been made, yet. Last NAFO wasn't announced until January for an event that happened in June (or July) if memory serves.

This year's NAFO will not take place the same month as previously. I typed somewhere else that it will be safe to assume that NAFO 2010 will be planned in September... likely the same weekend that EOM has happened or very close thereabouts... EOM has taken place the last several years the 3rd weekend of September.

I am not going to swear that will be the weekend, yet... but this is the best that we can do at this time & the weekend we will be shooting for if other planning team members have no objections.

Most apologetic that it isn't nailed down better than this... but it is what is is & it will come about soon enough. Please be patient,

Heidi

Heidi,

As far as I'm concerned there is no real need to apologize.

I know that it has been stated previously that it will most likely be in mid September (as has been the habit for EOM) and I am thrilled that this will be the timing. That is the best time of year IMO, so we don't run into the high risk of stifling heat earlier or too much cold up in the north that might prevent our Canuckian neighbors from venturing on down.

Afterall, while we call NAFO the NAtional Fjr Owners meeting it's really more of a North American thing... ;) Anyone second that nomination?

So just keep targeting that 3rd weekend in September and if it slips one way or another we'll all just have to make accommodations to be there as we can.

PS - this year I'm telling them they can stuff it at work.

I'm going no matter what!

Even if I don't have a job when I get back. ;)

The motion is out of order. ;)

NAFO IS and HAS ALWAYS BEEN North American FJR Owners. Click here to see.

In early discussion NFO could have been National FJR Owners.....but we quickly decided at WFO-6 with representatives from all the regional events present that the event was to be truly international. It was decided to put on the first NAFO 2008...as North American FJR Owners.

Personally, I hope the good folks of CFR get to host NAFO 2012.

Thanks Heidi for the update!

Please, Please, Please not the 3rd weekend of September...That is the weekend already slated for the SW-FOG (Sept 16-19). I know it is a pain in the butt trying to please everyone, but I really don't want to miss either one of these. How about the 1st weekend in September? Then I can goto NAFO, come home and goto SW-FOG. Apparently this is a common issue since I missed SW-FOG to attend EOM this year.

When it rains it pours and we have an over abundance of riches! I'm with mi Amigo HotRodZilla on this one, I'm really hoping it'll be the 1st weekend in September also. When Miss Barb and I were coordinating her 1st Western Canadian FJR Rally on Vancouver Island with SW-FOG 2010: We set up our dates, hers is September 10-12 and SW-FOG is September 16-19, so there could be a Western FJR Forum Rolling Rally. Like HRZ says, game plan was ride to 1st Western CA in British Columbia and then keep rolling on to Taos, New Mexico for the Second Big FJR Event. If NAFO was on the first weekend of September it would be a no-brainer for this Old Cowboy. Ride to NAFO, Ride to BARB and then ride to Taos, NM. Fiesta! Ai! Tequila!

The Kachina Lodge in Taos already has confirmed reservations booked from FJR Forum Members; plus AJ and his brother Alex already have the go ahead from the SW-FOG 2010 Planning Committee to start securing Food Vendors for the Banquet.

Just a suggestion, and one man's 2 cents, could NAFO be the 4th weekend of September? Once again, Papa Chuy would ride to Barb's Canuckian Getaway, ride to SW-FOG and then keep my FJR rolling to NAFO! Mas Caminos y Mas Amigos! Fiesta!

https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?s...t=0&start=0 Planning: Barb and I placed these events here 11/2&3/2009.

Plus hasn't it rained on the last two? or was that sfo I'm thinking of?? Ah nevermind, zilla loves that crap anyway..

:blum:

1st weekend is labor day weekend, bad idea eh? Unless you like mingling with lots of traffic and people.

So, it would appear that it'd have to be 26th/27th to avoid rallious conflictus.

Well, good to know that my Idea about what NAFO should mean is what it already means!! I interpret that to mean I am smart (but not observant). ;)

In Fred's defense, the screw up on the Rally Shirts can lead to confusion! :p

Winnipeg? Saskatoon? Calgary?

Wait, I've got it!! Yellowknife!!! ;)

PS - If it is there, I mapped a route that would get me there in just 3 days straight (no sleeping) 3,452 miles one way, and some of the roads may actually be paved!!

Touche'. The t-shirt makers didn't get the memo on that one. Do I still owe you beers over that? ;)

At least the graphic was right on the shirt and the website:

I would predict that there likely will be a meeting at NAFO 2010 with various reps of the regional events available and that the group would make the decision based largely on whatever regional group raises their hand and with conviction says, "We would like to host the next one and think we'd do a good job". I don't know how to translate that phrase into Canuckian, but would imagine it would involve the addition of a maple leaf, a Molson, and curling rock for visual aids.

And, I would guess any dictator advice would be secondary at most. ;)
