Attention FJRGuy Jeff and Other NAFO 2011 Canadian Planners: If NAFO is indeed in the able care and handling of our Canuckistan friends, then I'm still lobbying for Lake Atlin being considered as a potential NAFO site. I know other Alaska Riding Fiends such as Geezer, dcarver and Chuy would be interested in Lake Atlin.

Population is 400. Wow, it might go up by 20% or more for a weekend of NAFO. And only a tad over 2000 miles each way for me. I'd be in. :D

Hell Yes, Brother SPU you would be in. Now I have my World Traveling Hooks into you, I'm dragging you everywhere with me. Do not forget Morocco when I turn 65!

Personally, I hope the good folks of CFR get to host NAFO 2012.
Ya think the 'Benevolent Dictatorship' will allow that? I'd say we're in!!! :D
Winnipeg? Saskatoon? Calgary?

Wait, I've got it!! Yellowknife!!! ;)
Yellowknife would be nice, but I'm hoping it will be at Atlin Lake on the Yukon Territory border! 20 years ago, between my two divorces, heading North on mi moto to take a job call with Viking Corporation through ALYESKA, I stopped at Lake Atlin.

Met a Beauty of a Lady named Joanie in the local saloon. I then spent a month over the next three nights with Sweet Joan.

As Paul Harvey would say, that's rest of the story why I have "thing" about Canadian Gals! Where did the 20 years go too?
Am I on the wrong board, is this HUDD or ADV, that's a long way north, 2 days out from Hyder or 4 days from Edmonton.

Don't get me wrong we really enjoyed the area this summer but before planning a national in that area I would suggest someone organize a FNR in 2011.

The problem I see is that a lot of folks will not be able to that off enough time to make it out that far.

A couple of suggestions I could make from our tour last year would be.

Terrace, BC

Located on Hwy 16 between Prince Rupert and Prince George and close to the bottom of the Cassier (takes you up to Hyder and all point North).

Hwy 16 is spectacular.

Population is around 10,000 and as a regional hub it has a number of good hotels and has a number of bike dealers including Yamaha.

Tofino \ Ucluelet

If you have never been out there put it on your bucket list, go out of season though and hotels in tofino are mega $$$$ and the campsites are full.

My 2c

Chris

Chris, I understand you fully realize that I have ulterior motives for wanting to return to Lake Atlin. I would really like to "hook up" with beautiful Joanie again after 20 years. I can't help myself around Canadian women! Superman had Kryptonite stealing his supernatural powers; with Papa Chuy it's those North of the Border Babes!

Already been to Tofino and Terrace many times; and, I feel Terrace would make an ideal location for NAFO 2012. Ideal jumping off place for FJR Forum Alaska Riders!

Personally, I hope the good folks of CFR get to host NAFO 2012.

...
I agree with ya! A "F*ckin' North Ride" would be good... or maybe WCRR#2. CFR will be in the east, so...

Thinkin' we need to throw this in Neutral for a bit. Firstly, we don't even know the specifics of when and where NAFO 2010 is going to be. Secondly, we won't know for another 7 months (if my best guess on the last point is correct) if CFR will "indeed" have the privilege and honour of hosting NAFO #3. There may be other hats in the ring. It appears that SFO has interest in hosting it as well.

I would predict that there likely will be a meeting at NAFO 2010 with various reps of the regional events available and that the group would make the decision based largely on whatever regional group raises their hand and with conviction says, "We would like to could host the next one and think we'd do a good job". I don't know how to translate that phrase into Canuckian......
"We would like to could host dat dere next one and we'd do a good great job, eh!"

You're welcome!
Not too bad MM, but you seem to mixin' some Kentuckian with your Canuckian. Easy mistake! :p

"We would like to could be honoured to host the next one and think know we'd do a good FRiCin' AWESOME job, EH!"

Thank you Jeff. SFO is absolutely interested in hosting the next NAFO next. With the exception of last year's CFR event, SFO has always had way more attendees than CFR. So yeah, we we're kinda thinking we'd step up next. But it will all get resolved when it does. No hurries, no worries. We still need to get this year's NAFO in the books! B)

I could be talked into anything up in that corner of the world. Great ideas. I'm just sorry I can't make this 2010 NAFO, wherever it is back east.

Hell ya, never ridden a motorcycle in the South either. I'd be up for it. Notice a pattern here? :p

Yeah...your easy! ;)

I don't know CFR and SFO, talked to some SW-FOG people today and we may put in a bid to host NAFO in Mazatlan for 2012. It is a North American FJR Owners event and Sinaloa Estado, Mexico is definitely in North America! Hot senoritas, cold cerveza, warm beaches, spicy food; no damn back bacon or grits in Mazatlan Ciudad, ese!

I know this is asking a lot, but who ever hosts the 2012 NAFO please post dates as early as possible. Some of us workin' stiffs have to bid on vacations in Nov./Dec. for the following year.

That's not asking a lot at all! Very reasonable request! How does June 21st to 24th, 2012 sound? :D

Hmmm... very attractive alternative!!! Could always bring my own back bacon! :yahoo:

Actually, Jeff: Chicharrones are extremely popular throught all Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal. Just a Latin version of your beloved CA back bacon!
