Wowser, I received my Kootenay Rockies Travel Package from "Super Natural - British Columbia, and it really is SUPER! 1) Kootenay Rockies Travel Guide 2011 - 52 pages of great information. 2) Bike Vacations - 50 pages oriented towards the bicycling crowd, but loaded with resources for both road and off road motorcyclists. 3) Kootenay Rockies - Circle Routes Map, excellent detail and perfect scale for planning our NAFO / CFR 2012 day rides. 4) Crown of the Continent Map published by National Geographic, featuring Alberta, British Columbia, Montana including Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park. I highly recommend you order up these BC Guides!

Funny thing is, when I sent a request to New Brunswick last year for travel guides, all I got was a refrigerator magnet with "Bogstompers Rule" imprinted on a Canadian Maple Leaf flag!

Is that all pdf files? The web site I get to says can't mail outside Canada.

You Fine FJR Forum Ladies can definitely count on a foot massage from Papa Chuy, I am one of the Very Best. I fully agree with Vincent Vega (John Travolta) in Pulp Fiction: "There is nothing better for a relationship than giving your Lady an erotic foot massage. We all know the importance of the act." It was the foot massage topic that lead to an intense scene in Pulp Fiction.

Dear Barb, Thank you for your generous offer, it is very much appreciated! The Itinerary below is not yet cast in stone, but it is very close to finalization for the Jorstin's and the Stanley's.

The BC Ferries 2012 Sailing Schedule comes out after the first of the year sometime, but if it is the same as 2011, we will spend Friday night in Campbell River, British Columbia.

Since there will be four of us, we will just get a lodging near your home. Hopefully: Steve, Justin, Seth and Daddy Don can get in an evening ride with you to see the local sites on 6/29.

However, if the Prince Rupert to Port Hardy Ferry sails on Friday 6/29: We will stop at your home on Saturday, June 30 and take you out to lunch. Perhaps you can ride along with us a 100 klicks Southward towards Victoria for a late dessert somewhere.

We'll be staying in Vancouver on Saturday night 6/30. If you wanted to also stay in Vancouver on that night: Seth and Papa Chuy would take you out to a seafood dinner! We'll definitely see you on Vancouver Island, hopefully two days, perhaps only one.

Thursday, June 28: Sail aboard BC Ferries to Port Hardy on Vancouver Island; The Jorstins and The Stanleys will reserve a stateroom; if we want to nap or have some privacy; a 14 hour passage.

 

Friday, June 29: Today may be a “lay-day” or “catch-up” day, all depends on the 2012 BC Ferries Sailing Schedule. Prince Rupert to Port Hardy Southbound ferry sails only on alternate days.

 

If the ferry sails on Thursday, 6/28 we'll use our layday/catchup day somewhere on Vancouver Island.

 

As a suggestion, if Miss Barb is back from NAFO/CFR, we can grab lodgings in Campbell River, BC.

 

If the ferry sails Friday, 6/29 our layday/catchup day will be spent in Prince Rupert fishing/kayaking.

 

Saturday, June 30: Night spent in Victoria, BC; somewhere close to the Black Ball Ferry docks.

Jeff will be too busy with the rally to notice my rig parked in his driveway for a few weeks while we go play in the mountains. After CFR / NAFO I'm still deciding between seeing a good friend up in Hazelton and then getting Hyderized or pointing the FJR south for a servicing at GP Suspensions and then heading to Northern Cali followed by a loop back up along the Divide. There is also the ADV Rider D2D at Dawson City, Yukon around that time. Might be able to work that in. Decisions, decisions.....

Really only two choices going west. My intent would be to avoid the TransCan slab, and I've seen Lake Louise too many times. However, my preference is to go part way and cut to Radium Hot Springs and on down to Creston. Hwy 3 is much better IMHO. The good stuff is in the Kootenays to keep us busy for a few days..... Castelgar area all the way up to Nakusp/Revelstoke, etc.... let's see what the disorganizers have for routes. Lots of time.

Thanks, Steve! We are also really looking forward to this trip with You and Justin. I believe that you are riding up to British Columbia with Mopsy, Flopsy and Cottontail. Mopsy being Fairlaner, Flopsy is dj bill and naturally Roy as Cottontail. So our Foursome Ride will start after staying together at whatever lodging the Canuckian Cartel selects for us in Castlegar.

The only lodgings which are critical, that I highly recommend that we make advance reservations for, are the ones that bracket the Ferry Sailings: Prince Rupert, since the Ferry sails at 6am and we want a hotel as close as possible to the docks. Port Hardy, due to the Ferry arriving at 11pm at night, we don't want to be riding around aimlessly looking for hotels at that hour. And in Victoria we definitely want a hotel close to the docks, because we want to catch the first sailing at 7am back to Estados Unidos.

Rest of the nights out on the Canadian roads we can stop and stay wherever we want to, giving us some sightseeing flexibility. It's going to be a fun ride together, can't wait to see the polar bears!

Pm me your e-mail and I can forward you a Garmin gdb file of a 2150 km loop that will take you up to the Columbia Ice Fields and then Jasper. The southern part of the loop features Kamloops, Princeton, Osoyoos (good wine area), Rossland and then looping back to Castlegar. Give yourself an extra three days minimum to allow for stops and photo ops. You may want to take a side trip into Banff and Lake Louise. I only put you on the Trans-Canada long enough so you can see Rogers Pass.

Pm me your e-mail and I can forward you a Garmin gdb file of a 2150 km loop that will take you up to the Columbia Ice Fields and then Jasper. The southern part of the loop features Kamloops, Princeton, Osoyoos (good wine area), Rossland and then looping back to Castlegar. Give yourself an extra three days minimum to allow for stops and photo ops. You may want to take a side trip into Banff but this route keeps you off the Trans-Canada which can be plugged up with tourists at this time of the year.
