Ray e-mailed me with some preliminary plans that include trailering across the flat boring bits until we start hitting into the bumps around Calgary.....

Sooo, the good stuff starts West of Calgary.

Any more tips before I burn out my mapping software? ;)
Pm me your e-mail and I can forward you a Garmin gdb file of a 2150 km loop that will take you up to the Columbia Ice Fields and then Jasper. The southern part of the loop features Kamloops, Princeton, Osoyoos (good wine area), Rossland and then looping back to Castlegar. Give yourself an extra three days minimum to allow for stops and photo ops. You may want to take a side trip into Banff but this route keeps you off the Trans-Canada which can be plugged up with tourists at this time of the year.
Brother Bill, I know that your brains will dribble out of your ears and you will believe that Space Aliens have kidnapped the "Real" BeemerDonS when you read this, but please also send me this Garmin file. Gisele, my new red BMW K1600GT, came with a built in Garmin. I have asked my Illegitimate ******* Son SkooterG to instruct me on how to operate it, so I actually will be using a GPS before I croak!

When I saw the Motorrad Factory Invoice on how much the GPS System cost on my Beemer, my natural cheapass Irish nature took over: For that much fecking money, I damn well better know how to use this expensive POS option! [email protected]
Papa, did the Beemerhosen Schwine GPS come with any software, i.e., Mapsource. That devil device is only a Garmin 660 with a BMW sticker on it.... I was talking to two K1600 owners last week, one had the GTL with the GPS, and we loaded routes to it with my tuter. I forgot to ask if Hans and Dieter packaged up Mapsource with it, but I'd have to think so. Maybe it's a coupon for a download or a DVD.... You know you can't count on the Illegitimate ******* Son, so talk to your long distance Brother Rayzerman. Further tutorial can be provided on site at NAFO by some of your other brothers too. It will be a bit of a learning curve.

Don sounds like you are getting this thing together Justin and I are really looking forward to this trip with Seth and Daddy Don

Steve
Thanks, Steve! We are also really looking forward to this trip with You and Justin. I believe that you are riding up to British Columbia with Mopsy, Flopsy and Cottontail. Mopsy being Fairlaner, Flopsy is dj bill and naturally Roy as Cottontail. So our Foursome Ride will start after staying together at whatever lodging the Canuckian Cartel selects for us in Castlegar.

The only lodgings which are critical, that I highly recommend that we make advance reservations for, are the ones that bracket the Ferry Sailings: Prince Rupert, since the Ferry sails at 6am and we want a hotel as close as possible to the docks. Port Hardy, due to the Ferry arriving at 11pm at night, we don't want to be riding around aimlessly looking for hotels at that hour. And in Victoria we definitely want a hotel close to the docks, because we want to catch the first sailing at 7am back to Estados Unidos.

Rest of the nights out on the Canadian roads we can stop and stay wherever we want to, giving us some sightseeing flexibility. It's going to be a fun ride together, can't wait to see the polar bears!

Yes if the stars align, I will ride up with the amigos but if not, I will still keep the option open to ride up with you and Seth I still have not decided yet. But if we met you guys it would be in cedar Utah correct
https://classic.mapquest.com/maps?city=Cedar+City&state=UT&country=US&latitude=37.677502&longitude=-113.061096&geocode=CITY Correct, Steve-O. If you two don't ride up with Mopsy, Flopsy and Cottontail: You and Justin will meet up with The Stanley Boys in Cedar City, Utah on Monday evening June 18, 2012!

Many Thanks for the Offer of Help, Ray. But Tweedle-Dee (yamafitter) and Tweedle-Dum (SkooterG) have already been working with me. And also Enrique, mi Sobrino (Nephew), is helping me too!

Ray, I do know that it would be much more pleasant to deal with you though! Here is the e-mail that yamafitter sent me Friday: "Hey Numbnuts, here is the GPS Ride File for NAFO / CFR 2012. Knowing you are a thick Paddy, instead of a smart ******, you will probably just print it and attempt to shove it up your butt!"

That message was followed later by SkooterG: "My Illegitimate ******* Step Pappy - Since you are too fecking stupid to step out of a **** storm, just wait until I can get up to your house and I will load Bill's BC File into your computer and then into your Beemers GPS; Ya Old *******!"

Ray, here is what I originally e-mailed off to Tweedle-Dee and to Tweedle-Dum on Friday:

HELP, HELP; I have fallen and I can't get up, HELP! I have a box that came with my K16GT that is the size of a New York City phonebook, it says BMW Motorrad Navigator IV on it. In the box is an Owner's Manual, 50 pages in English, Spanish and French; it might as well be in Lithuanian for all of the good it is doing me, I am not a techno geek, Yo es muy Estupido! The disk says: Garmin City Navigator NA NT.

Did you not get a disk with Mapsource with the bike or is that another BMW $10,000 option?? Serves you right for buying Kraut Krap, I have never forgotten Warsaw!

Fly and drive sounds good to me. Ship the bike to seattle, then drive it across the border. I think I can do that. Might have to bring my much better half to this. She would not like it if I went to Canada without her.

https://service2.federalcos.com/mottrans/QuickQuotePage.aspx DJB, just for grins and giggles, I got a Quick Quote from Federal to ship my bike from Chandler, AZ to Spokane, Washington: $712.90.

https://service2.federalcos.com/mottrans/QuickQuotePage.aspx Then, just for yuks and chuckles, I got a Quick Quote from Federal to ship your bike from East Hartford, CT to Seattle, WA: $736.92.

It wouldn't make any sense for me to ship near NAFO / CFR 2012, because in two very long days I could be at a Rally jump off city. But, for you East Coasters it makes a hell of a lot of sense to ship your bikes out West. Figuring $80 a day for hotels and $35 a day for meals (I would also have a daily $15 alcohol charge!) and the FJR fuel bill over four very long days of riding: You would be money ahead at $736.92 to ship your bike out West and ride back home!

I have had great personal experience shipping with Federal Company. Fifteen years ago I restored a 1978 Harley-Davidson XLCR Cafe Racer. After a few years of my personal use, I sold it to a Gentleman in Nashville, TN. Federal was my shipper and they were as Good as Gold!

Bad News for the Canuckistanis: I just tried to get a Federal Quick Quote for shipping an FJR from Toronto, ON to Kamloops, BC and a message popped up on my computer screen: "Take off, eh! We don't ship any bikes for Hosers, eh!"

Mi Hermano Miguel: "Sticks and Stones may break my bones, but whips and chains excite me!" Barb, Kasey and Mary Ellen: Are you Canadian Ladies paying attention to this? Bungie, FJRob and HuronTom: Kindly ignore and disregard this post, eh!

Well, I DO know of a currently unused wooden paddle that was not allowed to be brought out at WCR for someone birthday spanks.......pretty sure it'd leave a mark. We could break it in on Don's hiberian hinee??

shipping bikes.....pfffffffft, in Canada you say? Hosers, indeed!

1.) You're going to get Don uncontrollably excited. He'll be giddy with anticipation....and you may not need to get him drunk. :dribble:

2.) Shipping bikes...Only for those South of the 49th parallel, eh? :dntknw:

What I actually said was, "You can tell an Irishman from over a mile away but once he gets any closer there's no chance of telling him a thing".

I don't know why you posted that video up  We'll never get Bungie anywhere near that road. Did you see that scary tunnel.... and it isn't even straight :yahoo:
Screw you funboi! I rode all the same roads you did. I just chose not to stop and clean out my drawers in private.

Just a little bug in your ear.. I'm planning on Glacier (ya, you read that right) and Hyder during CFR.. er NAFO 3.

There is NO WAY that Bungie is doing GNP. :dribble:

It will be cold, drizzly, foggy, the GPS "will go out on him", so he will probably do the "cliffside" twice...

No way. No freakin' way.

My FJR found a new home after the Colorado NAFO, but I still think you guys are relatively cool... ;)

Would you mind terribly if I made the trip on an "unFeejer"?

Jeff C., FJRGuy is the Rally Master, but I'd be so shocked if anyone said anything to you other than: "Welcome, Brother!" We Stanley Boys will be on our BMW K1600GT and Jorstin Boys may be on their BMW R1200GS Adventure.

I know there have been arrivals on Lead Wings and Ducatis. Hell's Bell's smthng, some folks due to injuries or scheduling have arrived by auto. This is just a really fun gathering of great folks, some of the best Motorcyclists that I know, all bonded by the love of FJR's and Friendship!

Hell, they even let me show up! ;)

Damn if Pappa DonS didn't get that right. I couldn'a said it better myself.

But I'm curious what bike is out there that would make a fella part ways with his Feej?
