Nothing green about electrical batteries and the mining for those components...
Just come to Sudbury. Nickel mining capitol of the world. Our lunar landscape fuels your electric vehicles.

What's funny, is one of my co-workers goes on an and on about Prius and how she's saving the planet.

"You haven't actually looked outside have you"
All you are going to see is the white stuff except for the two weeks in July.

I will be cracking the whip and rounding up some west coaster for this. It's only 1900 miles after all and we can stop and pick Smitty up on the way.

This could be a good excuse to visit my son in Minneapolis if he hasn't graduated by then....

I am exploring the feasibility of piggy-backing on this year's NAFO event to join up with one or more riders heading there. They would continue to NAFO and I would split off north 90 minutes to Minneapolis (I am not of the solo rider constitution, being a professional risk manager an' all). I have contacted my Colorado NAFO riding buddy, Silent, but he may not be available owing to elder care responsibilities. But we did make a helluva riding team, blasting at 105 MPH west along 80 in Wyoming in staggered riding formation on our dual FJRs like a fighter pilot and his wing man (that would be me).

JB, would you still be planning on attending NAFO? If you plan on visiting your son first and then head over to NAFO, you could ride out there with some of us "locals". I plan on heading out there that Thursday night. In the past I've left after work, which is in Minneapolis. And don't be shy, if there's anything else you might need while out here, just give a holler.

TM, thank you for your reply. I don't see how I would have time for both: I gotta get from Kali to MN, spend a few days with my son, and have enough time to get back. So I'm anticipating that I'd be in Minneapolis exactly coincident with the NAFO dates, then hook back up for the ride home. And thank you for your offer of support; I will certainly keep that in mind. (Much time 'tween now and Sept. Right now I'm just exploring the feasibility.)

Fly into the twin cities, spend a few days with your son. Steal an FJR or second bike from one of the locals...ride with them down to God's country, attend NAFO...meet a bunch of freaks...ride back to Twin Cities...hop on plane westward.

Possible alternative???

Sounds like a viable option there JB. Or look into renting a bike.

Either way, it would be a shame for you to come all the way out here without giving us "locals" a chance to buy you a brew or two.

BTW, what school does your son attend? At the very least have him bring you to Summit Brewery on a Friday night for a couple cold ones.

Thank you for helping me think about options. But I look forward to riding to the mid-west and back. I've been looking at routes. Silent and I went to Colorado via the Northwest, so I'm thinking it'd be fun to head through Yosemite to Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Four Corners, Arches, etc. Never seen those natural wonders. Also thinking about stopping at art museums to visit some of my favorite paintings. Still puzzling my puzzler about getting to do it all....

I did just see my son at Christmas, but I never get tired of seeing him. You dads know how I feel. T.M.: He's at U-Minn Minneapolis getting his PhD in physics.

(He takes after his dad.

I will be in Idaho at the Big Nasty the weekend before, I may just ride over to your event.
Hey Ken, you should ride on over. Some real nice riding country in SW Sconnie.

I plan to hit NAFO and EOM a week later in Maggie Valley, NC - you can just keep going East!
Wish I could do both...probably hit NAFO this year, since I'll most likely be heading down to the camping meet at the BRMC end of May.

OK, I might be going to NAFO from Western Colorado if I can hook up with someone both there and back. Age has kind of dampened my enthusiasm for riding alone for long distances. I would also be interested in going to the Twin Cities as I have a brother and nephew there.
