what if it rains..
That is a point worthy of discussion in advance. With the liberal cancellation policy of the Commodores, I would expect that if we get down to the last few days before and the weather forecast appears to be horrible, a lot of people would bail out on the weekend. But the likelihood that the weather will be bad all week and weekend at that time of year is pretty slim. We may get some thundershowers, but those usually blow through quickly, and mostly in the afternoons.

I will certainly be there rain or shine for the duration, and I know there will be some others. Stowe is a pretty interesting place to just hang out and do stuff, even if you can't ride around on the twisty roads of the surrounding area. For alternate recreational activities in the area, checkout GoStowe.com (that link is actually hidden in the upper right corner of the FJR NERDS web site banner)

[edit - and if we all bring along our rain gear it will help insure that we don't have to use it!!]

Another teaser...

Last Monday, Memorial Day, I rode over to Vermont and test out one of the ride routes (Villages and Sweepers). Snapped a couple of pictures along the way:

I'm heading out to test the NE Kingdom route. Hopefully, the rain will hold off until I get home...

Just finished riding the North-East Kingdom loop. Beautiful scenery, Smooth winding roads, No traffic, Lots of "Moose Crossing" signs...

Rt. 102 running up along the Connecticut river is Awesome! :yahoo:

Definitely consider this route for one of your "choices" at NERDS '11. You won't be disappointed.

Hopefully I'll be able to get some of the route detail pages up on the NERDS website in the next week or so.

Just signed up for me and the missus, booked a room at the Commodore. Due to lack of vacation days, we'll have to ride there on Friday (hopefully arriving around 5pm), and depart on Sunday, but that's way better than missing it entirely!! We're both looking forward to it. :D

Rain? Hmpf.Got wet at the Greens & Whites last year, but I was solo. Not sure how the missus likes rain yet. She hasn't been aboard when the liquid sunshine comes down...

Pffft....

Rain, schmain. Bring rain gear.

If it rains TOO bad, we'll find a way to get more beer to the hotel. Then, we'll drink it.

Besides, EVERYONE knows that it NEVER rains at FJR gatherings, right?

Well, except for SFO '09.

Or EOM '09.

Then there was some rain at NAFO '10.

Rumor has it there was some rain at SFO '11.

But other than that...

There's no rain at CFRs. I double-dog dare y'all to show up to find out :p

Yup, I’m in. Wife is in to. The plan is coming up Friday and back Sunday. I may try to stretch it out and get an other day or 2, but we are in. :yahoo:

Working on the necessary farkles now. Sliders came today, My Heli bar risers where ordered this morning.

Looking for a good seat replacement now.

Ya, ya, ya... I know...

We'd love to, but we just got back from a ride down south. Time off work and fundage are both finite, so no CFR this year... We're hoping to work EOM into the mix, though...

Might see you there ;)
It's definite. We'll be at EOM, but only on Friday night and Saturday day / night. (We got a kick-*** offer for a free week's lodging in Hilton Head, so we're headed there after EOM.)

Or at NERDS first? You still going Andy?
Yep! I think I'm gonna need a rear tire before hand, but we're excited as can be for NERDS!

We just got our FJR a little over a month ago and just saw this. Sounds like fun and we're thinking about riding up from Texas. I got on the hotel web site and it shows no rooms available for that period. We tried to call but the guy at the desk had no access to reservations and asked us to call back back in the am. Does anyone happen to know if they have any rooms left from the block that was reserved for NERDS and what the room rate is?

We'll call back in the am and hopefully get a room.

I believe there are still rooms left. No, you can't make the reservations online. Have to call.

Not sure why the night clerk couldn't access the reservations system.

I'll contact the Commodore's Inn and find out what the remaining room situation is. It sounds like they may be filling up for our NERDS weekend. I'll post the status as soon as they get back to me.
